Please help me understand

Jackie, is this you too (below)? Did you make two profiles by mistake. If so, we can have @Leebo merge one of them for you to avoid confusion.

Yes let’s keep me as Jackie RN Jesus I even spelled Jackie wrong that time I’m sorry! your so patient!

Please just let me know - FC should be 7.5 percent of CYA
If mine is 9-10 it’s ok to swim?
I got my 2006C kit and I’m learning. But we want to swim. I have lots,of liquid chlorine as I drain a foot of water each day and refill it. I cannot drain 1/2 the water at once. Our liner is already compromised from heavy rains. I
Cya yesterday was 96.
Given those numbers it’s safe to swim. It’s often said that it’s safe to swim all the way up to SLAM level.

I would be calling your CyA 100 and run with a FC of 10-12ppm. Which for now is where you’re at. Through summer I run a CyA of 70 and my FC is often up at 10 or even a little higher. I would still work on getting that CyA down a little more.

7.5 percent of CyA is the absolute minimum. 10% is the target range.

Good morning Jackie. So I did a thing this morning. I took all of your water chemistry questions/posts/threads from both profiles and combined them here so we can keep everything together. Please post to this thread for now. It just makes sense top keep it all together. Eventually @Leebo will get in here and clean up your profile(s) so there is no confusion. I understand you wish to keep the "jackieRN" profile. He might PM or email you with any questions. Have a good day.

Ph sky high today over 8 maybe because TA was 160
Best to use muriatic acid (full strength 31.5%) to lower the pH. Since your TA is also elevated, I would suggest using the PoolMath APP to dose with enough acid to lower the pH from 8.0 to 7.2. When the pH hits that mark again repeat. Each time you do that it will slowly pull the TA down as well.

Pour slowly near the return jets. Be mindful of splashing and the wind direction with the muriatic acid. It's the perfect product to use but deserves respect. Otherwise you may need to see a nurse for help. :)

I’m having friends over today- I had 2 pounds of sodium bisulfate and dumped it in. I’ll remeasure in 2 hours - and go to the store. Can I mix the muriatic later since I used the other?
Can my friends swim?

Also I paid to get the advanced app but again I’m still figuring out where the heck it is I just keep opening a basic thing 😩😩

Yes. The dry acid should be long gone and dissolved by then. You can add liquid muriatic acid later as needed.

Can my friends swim?
Give the acid a minimum of about 15-20 minutes to circulate and disperse really well first. If you have poor water movement for some reason, you can brush things a round a bit.

Oh and after the acid how soon can I add chlorine to keep it up? It’s dummy but it seems I need it with my high cya
