While full chip-out/re-plaster is in progress, attempted to repair the conduit for the spa light in the yard. Wiring got damaged. Need to replace the old Pentair spa light with the same type fixture since I have a fairly expensive functional multi-colored LED bulb installed and I'd like to re-use it.

There's a Pentair part# on the back of the housing but when I search for for it, I get nothing.. What are my options? Thx!back.jpg

This may be as close as you can get if you can find one...

Pentair SpaBrite is the replacement light. They look different than that old one now.

I like the idea of being able to replace the LED bulb within an incandescent fixture.. My understanding is that the LED type fixtures are not repairable. When LED fails, the entire housing has to be replaced. Can someone confirm this?

Price does not include installation. Just found out he's trying to sell me a LED type fixture. He says the LED type fixtures have a replaceable LED board?? This is getting confusing.
I have never seen a replacement board for a SpaBrite LED light. They are made for the full-size pool LED Intellibrite pool lights. Hw may be correct. Ask the cost and number of the repair kit before purchasing.

Got a reply back after he talked to Pentair, 1poolman1 was correct, no board in the spa light.

Is this something I can deal with later or does the spa light need to be present when plastering the pool? As luck would have it, I'm leaving town the day after pool gets filled and need to prepare for the trip this week.

Also there's a ring thing that the old spa light attached to. It came out with the spa light (after chipout.) Not sure if it's a part of the niche or if it's a separate piece that is held by plaster? See pic of ring thing (with a crack).

That's a mounting ring, usually used when a pool is plastered. You will need one to mount a new light, that can be installed anytime, doesn't have to be done with the re-finish.

After thinking a bit more, I'd assume if the ring doesn't get plastered-in during the main re-plaster, if can be installed with another layer of plaster on top of the new plaster. Light is in a recessed spot anyway so if it sticks out a little more no biggie.

Last question (I hope), where is the 8 ga earth ground wire supposed to attach?

Wire should be attached to the bond/ground lug in the light niche. The mounting ring is set into the plaster and should be done when the pool is refinished. Trying to get new plaster to stay bonded to old, even if somewhat newly installed, is tricky at best and would look terrible.

That's where I thought the 8ga extra ground wire attached (niche). Seems weird since the light fixture isn't electrically connected to the niche, it's connected to the mounting ring which is insulated by the plaster.

Getting nervous. Plaster is scheduled for tomorrow and no way to get a mounting ring here in time. 80% chance of thunderstorms too, so maybe it will get postponed.

Mounting ring should be connected to the original niche with a screw, usually bronze/copper but sometimes stainless, or the bond wire should be attached to the ring (see the picture). The picture is upside down as the bond lug should be at the bottom and the light screw at the top (more or less).

Went out and looked at it again. I can see where the 8ga bonding wire connects to the niche, then there's a raised strap that goes towards the mounting ring but no place for a screw. No place on the mounting ring for a bonding screw, just a hole for the fixture to attach. Appears prev plaster guys got plaster inside the niche and on top of the strap. I was able to scrape away some of the old plaster but there's still a thin layer on this strap and no way to connect with it electrically. Maybe I should convert to 12V??niche.jpg
