Wiring for Timer Box

I am trying to change out the Intermatic timer box for my Polaris 280 Vacuum Sweep. It is a 240 V. I purchased a Dewenwils Timer Box. I need to get the wiring right but I am confused about the wiring of the Intermatic. The wires coming the bottom go to the pump itself. The wires to the right come from the circuit box. One wire that confuses me is the one all the way to the left. Not sure where it would connect in the new box or even what the purpose of this wire is. Thank you.

The T104 timer does not use screw A and it looks like a neutral wire was connected to it based on the white color.

A 240V circuit does not use the neutral wire. And it looks like white wires were used for the the two hot wires which does not follow wiring standards. Black electrical tape should be wrapped around those white hot wires to indicate they are hot and so that you don;t confuse it with the white neutral wire.

Also the ground wire was not properly connected on the timer.

I think that might be a neutral to run the timer on 110v?

Is it possible the timer motor was swapped out at some point with a WG1570 which would run on 120v and require its own neutral?

The T104 has a 240v clock motor.

If the mechanism was replaced with a T103 it has a 120v clock motor.

I doubt it since you can see the two thin white wires for the clock power connected to the 240V screws.

According to this A is used for a second 240 load. Do you have two devices on this timer?

Edit: still doesn’t look right. I’m stumped.

There is only one pump on that timer but it is on the same circuit with our filters timer.

Looks like the white wire connected to A comes from the freeze guard.
