Hack My Pool

You have a Menards in town, go get a bunch of the liquid bleach there 12.5% There just happens to be about 1 lb of chlorine in the 12.5% gal.
Also this will be the cheapest place to get 1 gal muractic acid back in the paint section. You will get the iron out. when it settles you can vac it to waste pretty easy.

Menards and I are BFF - thank God for the 11% Cash Back right now, I just might be able to put in a fire pit after all these pool expenses! :ROFLMAO:

I picked up 3 Jugs of the 12.5% yesterday - thank goodness it's cheap! Muriatic Acid - help me understand what this does? How much of that stuff do I need?

And I need to read the poly articles - I've seen pics and this looks intriguing for sure!

AlkaPlus is Baking Soda. I doubt you will need it. Take it back. If we need to raise Alkalinity, just use baking soda from the grocery.
AlkaMinus is Sodium Bisulfate. Sulfates can damage concrete and metal. Take it back, you won't need it. We can adjust TA through normal pH management.

Take a spin through this...Link-->Pool Care Basics

dont buy the jugs (muratic acid) less than 1 gallon. They are too expensive. it has a looong shelf life.

And pick up at least another 2 boxes (8 gal) of bleach (12.5%) while it is on sale.

Oh I can totally rig up a five-gallon bucket on my ladder and run my "clean" water back through poly-fill! That's an easy project for certain. Getting the tube through the base of the bucket will be my biggest hurdle but nothing a friend of mine and I can't manage!

I already opened the alkaplus - so I can just shelf it for now. I'll return the Alkaminus.

Here's something I am fearing - I am losing water when I backwash and rinse - to be expected. I need to add water to the pool; but given all this rust I am dealing with, I feel like I'll never get clean water! Surely a couple hundred gallons won't set me that far back? (fingers crossed)

Turn your filter to re-circulate while doing the polyfill treatment, if it has that feature. Will avoid a lot of backwashing...

Bought some pillows, a 5 gal bucket…

Did I read I should also put poly-fill in this canister to help with filtering before it hits the sand filter?

Jesus take the wheel if we get ANY other issues!
Careful there with what you wish/ask for, there's a difference. One time I lost a rim and tire when I *assumed* he was taking the steering wheel. It was a TOTALLY different outcome while satisfying the request. :ROFLMAO:
