Pump size Q

I have a 25 year old 8x8 spa that originally came with a 3/4 2 speed pump. There seems to be only one mfg that makes this configuration and the price has increased big time.
An alternative available is a 1 hp 2 speed pump, obviously at a more reasonable price.
I am concerned that the increase hp would compromise the pvc piping and glue because of it's age.
Is this thinking reasonable to assume?

This a standalone spa or integrated with a pool?

What model spa?

Show us pics of the labels on the 3/4 HP pump.

Have a link to the 1 HP pump you are looking at?

The PVC pipes should not be a problem but the electrical draw maybe.
