Pool Jets

Will a 3hp pump running wide open be too much on a filter? So many Florida filters are undersized that shouldn't we determine what type of filter this 20 year old pool has?

It is a valid question.

Flow rate is not an issue for cartridge filters. They usually can take 1GPM/sqfoot. So even a small 100 sq ft cartridge filter can take 100 GPM.

Sand filters have lower maximum flow rates and could be an issue.

I see a pool light on.

What is the problem?
There is a really fine substance floating around in the water I believe it to be sand. I think I have it figured out though, Spanish tile concrete roof, over time it breaks down and the plaster that they use to seal it I’m pretty sure has sand in it because around my drains for the gutters all have the same type of sand below the drain.

You have two things going on in your pool. What you see with the lights are just fine particles that are in the air and land in the water. Sand does not float so if you have sand it would have to be on the floor.

Well this is what I am picking up out of my pool, when I say “float” I mean with high current and a robot cleaning kicking up everything
