3hp Jandy FloPro VS w/ Ecotech EZ Controller issues

I purchased this pump 8yrs ago and has ran flawless since day one. Came home and saw the pool was not running, checked the pump and the screen display was showing the pump was working as it should but was not on. I shut off the power to reset and now the display will not turn on. But funny thing is if I turn on the booster pump for a second the Jandy display comes on for 5 seconds and shuts off.

I'm thinking the Ecotech EZ controller is the culprit but no replacement available. Anyone had similar issues with this pump?

That is a replacement motor on the Jandy. Jandy pumps came with Century motors, whether single or variable speed.
EcoTech motors were only around for a relatively short time then discontinued in favor of the Neptune.
Sounds like the drive has died and they were never listed as a separate item. Just like all other manufacturer's drives, there are no authorized repairs that can be made to the drive. If its not on YouTube it doesn't exist and the only VSP drive repair I've ever found is for Hayward.

but the actual pump was/is 2.5, so that motor will work.

Unfortunately it looks like the motor is fine, it's the electric control panel that is bad.
 
Ordered the Calimar3hp, but just got email it's on backorder with no ETA.

Being over twice the cost for the same motor, would a 1.5 hp VS Black and Decker pump suffice for a 15,000gallon pool and a small waterfall?
 
The calimar backorder is no surprise and don't hold your breath. I waited 2 months last season for a replacement and had to re-pipe in a temporary for a customer.
The black and decker is good and the 5 year warranty is fantastic I hear. I'd go with the 3hp model as it's more efficient and can run at lower rpm for the same flow but less electricity.
