HI all! Hoping for some guidance and trying to learn as much as I can, any and all advice/feedback is appreciated.

To cut to the chase, is it possible to install a Gunite spa in before I put a pool in? Builders are giving me mixed messaging which ultimately gives me the feeling they are pushing me towards larger purchase.

My thought is, why not? You can have a existing pool and add a spa, why not the other way around?

For us, the spa does not need to be in the pool, it can be higher but close for a spill over when we do add the pool.
I would add a chiller for the spa so it can also be used during the summer.
In 1.5-2yrs, we would add the pool.

Thanks for the help!

If you have the funds and a willing builder, anything you want can be done. As a pool/spa combo is a monolithic structure, adding a new element to an existing spa is going to be more expensive and require more engineering that building all at once.

JH,

Have you ever been in a gunite Spa before??? If not... you need to try one before you buy one!!!

Building them at two different times makes absolutely no sense to me. Not only will it cost much, much more in the long run, the construction mess will last forever.

To follow up on your adding a spa to an already build pool... Spas generally run $20 to $30K To add a spa to an existing pool would cost $40 to $60K. It just makes no sense..

Sorry to be a downer,

Jim R.
