Hello, and thank you in advance for any help you provide. Excuse my ignorance as I am learning. ( husband working, so it’s up to me😔)
Last week, pool service replaced our actuator for the spa.. when he finished, the pool pump is not responding To the app not to manual . It worked fine u til he replaced the actuator.
He tried to have pentair help but couldn’t fix problem. I have checked and it is in Auto, the “ brick” is working properly. But the pump is not responding. Any suggestions is appreciated.
thank you

Welcome to TFP.

Can you explain better what "not responding To the app not to manual" means?

What is in Auto?

What "brick"?

Post pics of your equipment pad and controls for us to see what you have.

Hi, here is panel, where the system is in auto.
By brick I mean the pentair adapter by the router. And here is the screenshot of what the app is telling me. Sorry for poor explanation, I don’t know if any of these help.. thank youIMG_8890.jpegIMG_8891.jpegIMG_8898.jpegIMG_8897.pngIMG_8895.jpegIMG_8890.jpeg

Jul,

Use your app and turn on your pool light.. The app should show the light is on (green)

Then go outside and see if the actual pool light is on. If it is, use the button on the main panel to turn off the pool light, then see if the app shows the light is off.

I suspect that you have lost your entire com port, and the above test will tell us if the com port is working or not.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I turned on pool light with app and light s went on, went to co trip panel and it shows light is on, but when I hit the button associated with it , it doesn’t turn off.

Jul,

The fact that the pool light turned on means that most likely the com port is working. The fact that it did not turn off may be just how the system is configured.

On the surface, I don't see any correlation between your new actuator, and your pump issue.

But, to install the new actuator, he would have had to drop the front panel down and may have caused the com cable to become disconnected.

When you expect the pump to run, is the system in Auto and in either the Pool or Spa modes.. Looking at the lights on the main panel?

When you switch between the pool mode and the spa mode do both actuators turn like they should?

What kind of pump do you have??

Thanks,

Jim R.

Pic shows Whisperflo VST.

Jul, what does the display on the pump show?

Post a pic of the pump display.

Hi,
We have the pentair whisperflo variable speed.
Idk if that happens… I’d rather husband be here to do that… thanks for advice… will be trying it after he gets off work.

Jul,

Sorry, I though you had a standard IntelliFlo...

With the WhisperFlo VS... if someone stops the pump using the Start/Stop on the pump.. it will not start again unless someone pushed the start stop button again. Push the button until the Start/Stop light comes on.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jul,

To be clear....

A couple of things have to happen for the pump to run..

Your automation needs to be telling the pump to run.. As in some circuit that needs the pump running has to be on.. (Like the Pool circuit) The automation needs to have a speed associated with the circuit.. (Like Pool = 1500 RPM)

And in your case, if someone has turned off the pump, using the start stop button on the pump, then you have to push the start stop button again.

I'll take another look at the pump manual and see what else I can find.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jul,

I have looked at the WhisperFlo manual and it is written in "Pentair" so not easy to understand..

I am not sure if the External Control Only LED should be on or off...

Let's turn it off and see what happens... Push and hold the Start/Stop button for at least 10 seconds. The Ext Control LED should go off..

If the Start/Stop LED is off, then push the Start/Stop button for about 2 seconds and see if the Start/Stop LED lights, and the pump starts... (Note that the system has to be in Auto and Pool for the pump to run)

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi Jim, thank you so much….I did as you suggested and ext light went off and when I turned pump back on…. Nothing.
I am reaching out to my pool guy and he has to do something, i am so frustrated…. I think it is a simple issue but idw to open panels. Thank you so much

Jul,

I was trying to find something that the actuator installer did that might keep the pump from working, but it looks more like the two issues are not really related.

Please let us know what the fix is, as others may end up with the same issue.

Sorry I was not able to get it done...

Hi,
I appreciate all of your help. I just spoke to pool guy amd he thinks he knows what it is… I asked “ could it be a bad communication cable?” , so he is bringing an extra one tomorrow. I will definitely let you know the outcome. Thanks again
