Hello from SoCal! In process of designing

Hi all - lurker for a while and finally mustered up the courage to create an account! Looking to build a pool/spa and hardscape/landscape our backyard.

Contemplating OB but also talking to a few large PBs here - specifically design/build firms. I’ve spoken to at least seven firms and all of them require design fees, with most of them requiring four digit sum before even setting foot on my property. I suppose it’s a sellers market now still!

That's RIDICULOUS. If you've been lurking than you see how welcoming, patient and helpful we are with anyone who is willing to learn. Such as:

Get a build thread going in the under construction sub forum. Post up some pics of the yard so we can see what youre working with, and also your wants/needs........ and why. So many folks just get what everyone else got and we'll give you all the +/-'s so you can end up with your best pool.

Hi all - thank you for your warm welcome - long time lurker. We have a 0.28 acre lot that slopes down to a flat backyard and a detached garage in the middle of it all. We can’t really take down the garage because we’d need to build a new one (unless we convert to ADU which is an arduous process...
