Advise where to place swg and brand

Howdy y’all. First, thank you so much for all the advice you have given. It has been invaluable for us first time pool owners.
I have a 38,000 gal in-ground pool in the Texas heat that is heavily treed. My chemicals remain stable, but the cost of chlorine is killing me. I would like to install a swg, but need some advice where to install it. I’ve been looking at the Circupool Core 55, but am open to suggestions.
I’ve attached a drawing of the plumbing, and know the chlorinator needs to attach after the heater. There is a T (bypass that I don’t understand) before the heater intake that has a valve, and I’m trying to determine if it should go in that spot or directly after the heater. That goes to the hot tub which overflows into the pool, but I’ve read here that is not a great location.
I hope I have provided enough information, and any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you ajw. It will be tight to fit it in there so I’ll have to figure that out… but can move the spa blower to make some room.
Any opinion on the core55 vs others? I keep reading that I would need to go a large as possible with the pool size.

We can see in the pic the pump is not VS.

Replacing the SS pump with a VS pump is better then getting two SWGs.

A VS pump is somewhere in everyone's future.

The rj60 + would be a better fit for your pool volume as it has a higher output than the core55.
3.10 #/day for the rj60+ vs the core 55 @ 2.30#/day

I think we have learned that Circupools marketing claims are optimistic.

I would not count on more than 2 lbs/day of chlorine from the RJ60+.

Regardless, if circupool is the swcg brand of choice the one with highest claimed output would be the best choice for such a large pool in that climate. If the rj60 is over stated it would stand to reason that the core55 is also thus has a lower output.
In any instance a vsp would certainly help with the cost of running the swcg long enough to properly chlorinate the pool.

So a VS pump with the highest output chlorinator I can find.
As normal operation is to have the water return to the hot tub over a waterfall, does the Vs pump at lower speeds cause problems with the water not flowing enough to “fall” into the pool and instead trickle over the wall?

What will you be replacing your Compool system with?

Get a VS pump compatible with your Automation and get a SWG compatible with your Automation and then they will all work together well.

The automation will control the pump speeds for the spillover and SWG output when using the spa.

I haven’t decided but I’ve liked the pentair controller. The problem becomes when I look at replacing the controller, the pump, and installing a swg, the expense becomes a problem.
I have looked at cheaper vs pumps (black/decker, etc), but don’t want to limit what I can do later.
It can be frustrating.

Start with the end in mind.

Buy compatible equipment that will work together as you acquire it. It may not work optimally until you get it all together.

For the expense of a vsp check with your utility for rebate offers. There’s generally a dedicated area on their website.
The biggest cell available from “the big 3” brands is the pentair ic60 so if automation is in your plan pentair would be the way to go.
Several Pentair vsp’s are generally included in rebate offers which can lessen the sting a little.
