If it doesn't make it to the basket, it's likely stuck at the first valve at the equipment pad. If it's a CMP / Jandy neverlube type you can take it apart to remove the ball. A ball valve would need to be cut.
Have you tried a nine iron?

Might be a good first step to try blowing air back through the drain from the equipment pad to see if the ball will travel back to the drain? Might need a cyclone blower for that.
i think we need to hear the backstory on how a golf ball got in the bottom drain in the first place.
I know a guy who could hit a shot like that.

Do you have a shop vac that can reach the drain? If so, I would turn off the pump and try to suck the golf ball through the drain.
That indicates that you do not have a proper drain cover, which is very dangerous.
What size is the PVC pipe?
Get a golf ball and see if it will fit through a 90 of the same size as the pipe you have.

Ball got in bc I have a putting green next to my pool and I trickled into the pool and got sucked in before I could get it. My old main drain covers were wearing out and broken and my pool guy removed them before the new ones came in.
Pump is working fine, no issues getting water to the filter and nothing excess indicating air in it. I have a guy come Friday or Monday to check it out to flush it out. So we’ll see. Concerned about long term damage we can’t get it out.
One company I spoke to who referred me to the one coming said it really isn’t anything to be worried about, esp if the water is flowing through the lines.

I thought that, I closed the skimmer line and went full bore on the main drain and didn’t seem to have any flow issues
Should I shut off the main drain line until help arrives and just let the skimmer run?
Ok, went out and turned the jandy valve to the off position on the main drain. Any harm, in running fully on the skimmer? Seems a lot of people don’t use the main drain to begin with

You should not allow anyone to use the pool when the main drain is not covered.
New drain covers will be installed tomorrow or Monday. No one in the pool until then
Pool repair guy at the house now. Here’s to clear pipes/drains and fresh new covers!
Update. Ball is out of the drain line, along with a bunch of other stuff lol. New covers installed on the drains in the pool. So relieved that is over lol.
