I have installed the SWG console and hooked it to the pool timer.

My friend (who opens pools as a side job) will be coming this week to help install the piping for the SWG. Reading a thread I posted a month ago;

Recommended to let the pool circulate well the added salt, and test the CYA before turning on the SWG itself. I won't be turning on the SWG right away as recommended, but I guess I should be still throwing the filter on daily (obviously) to keep it circulating?

I have the TF-100 pro kit with the smart stir.

Should the filter run as normal (8 - 10 hours a day), and I'll test the CYA and salt level daily?

Thanks.

Thank you.

Stupid Q... add what to maintain FC? I assume I'm no longer using liquid chlorine....
Liquid Chlorine. You are still able to use Liquid Chlorine even with a SWG. The SWG is mainly just for maintaining Chlorine levels. Use Liquid Chlorine to get to your appropriate level. Even though I have a SWG, I always keep a gallon or so of Liquid Chlorine on hand just in case my levels dip, or even after a large party.

The charts and poolmath don't know your daily loss of that point in the season. (Think bell curve with less at the ends and alot more in the middle).

It's up to you to add (or have the SWG add on your behalf) your daily loss, *plus min*, plus a skootch more for a little wiggle room.

Big storms and power outages, while rare, happen a couple times a season each. You have leeway from target level all the way up to SLAM FC for safe and sanitary swimming. (40% of your CYA level). There is little leeway below target level. When you goof, goof on the high side and we will never discuss your swamp. :)

Awesome. Thanks.

If you have a minute to wait, puritech is usually a great price per lb on Amazon. Or Google HD/Lowes/Walmart to see who has the better deal per lb if you need it today.

It's all according to how much you need and how much you want to store for later use.

Walmart sells a 4# bag of Clorox stabilizer for about $21/bag.

If you want/need a larger amount, the ones mention above are usually a good value.

Hang it in a sock of sorts, carrot on a stick like, in front of a working return. It will squeeze out some time later. I let mine soak for a full day and it squeezes out in a couple minutes tomorrow.

CYA is rarely an emergency that needs to be fixed this instant.

Ok.

I tested the FC and CYA. FC came in at 4.5, CYA was either 60 or 70. (The CYA test is not user friendly)

I added just over a quart of liquid chlorine to pump it slightly above 5 FC.

What's next? I haven't turned on the SWG yet, but I've been scrubbing and skimming the water for particles.
