I was a bad girl!

Missed it.

Are you on softened water? It’s strange that last Aug and 14 days you got exactly the same number, 675ppm. Considering where you live, evaporation should have raised your CH substantially unless your fill water is very soft.

Also, all of your chlorine additions for the SLAM over the last 2 weeks added about 500ppm to your salt level. Your salt level is now at 4400ppm. You have high salt and high CH; it’s going to cause more scaling inside your cell. An exchange refill (no drain exchange) can lower both levels and get you back to a better balanced state. If you can’t do that then I suggest keeping a close eye on your cell and cleaning it more frequently otherwise you risk damaging the plates with calcium build up.
Nope not "soft water" here lol I can't drain here without getting cited by HOA. I've had plumbers & the pool reno people all look & I don't have a clean out to drain to & HOA gets huffy about draining to street so for now I have to manage it the best I can. I'm hoping next year if I can make it that long to have RO done on it. We tried that when we bought the house and previous owners mangled water but the RO pump kept shutting off as it was just too much for it but I'm thinking it should be more doable than back then lol

How can you NOT have a clean out? Are you on a sceptic system??

Residential construction code REQUIRES that when a home is hooked up to municipal sewer lines that a plumbing clean out is installed.

Does no home in your HOA have a sewer clean out? And if so, how can your HOA give you trouble for cleaning out a pool of there’s no way to do it through a sanitary sewer.

Plumbers aren’t often the brightest bulbs in the box. If you use a municipal sewer line then I would contact your municipal water supplier (who typically operates the sewer system) OR your city building department and ask them about the existence of the sewer clean out line. They would know because they would have had to sign off on the home builders hook up to their main line.

I'm sure there is one somewhere, it's just not visible and probably buried under a lot of dirt and rocks lol. I don't know even where to try and uncover it 😁

You might want to find it. Sewer lines usually have tracer wires wrapped on them and any plumber with the right gear can find them.

Neither here nor there but do realize that if you get RO done, the RO process requires a waste line to drain water. You’re going to discharge a few thousand gallons of waste RO water and it has to go somewhere. The RO company is going to ask for the sanitary sewer line location or they are just going to discharge it into the street. So you might want to think about finding that clean out line … and, FYI, it should have never been buried, that’s against most building codes too. But home builders often do lots of stupid and irresponsible things and leave the messes for homeowners to fix.

The previous owners of this house were not the sharpest crayons in the box so wouldn't surprise me one bit if they buried it based on everything we've had to fix from them.

Same with my home. I have found so many things done half-arsed and Jerry-rigged that I’m no longer shocked anymore. They had no clue how to fix anything properly and clearly couldn’t bring themselves to ask anyone for help on how to do things right. I just replace everything as it breaks down because there’s no point in trying to figure out what these idiots were thinking.

Dude!! Speaking my language!! Example the week we moved in the kitchen sink clogged so bad & turning on the garbage disposal shot water across the kitchen. Brought plumber in who had to replumb the whole thing cuz they plumbed it backwards!! Like w.t.f

I'll go dig around today to see if I can't find something 🤷‍♀️ If not, then I guess I will start calling plumbers & getting quotes on locating it. If I can locate it, then I would probably drain half at least but I could go all the way with it. Filling doesn't take long from my 3 spigots & hoses running full bore, plus we have weird weather and not anywhere near normal yet.

My previous crew installed a dishwasher without running the drain line through an air break up at the sink or even with a high loop into the garbage disposal. They literally put some kind of plastic tee on the sink drain line and duct taped the hose into it. When I first ran the sink a few times water would gurgle up through the bottom of the dishwasher. When I looked under the sink I literally declared out loud “WHAT THE F _ _ _ !!” in front of my young children. Literally every dishwasher install manual written in the last 50 years gives detailed instructions with multiple options on how to run the waste line off a dishwasher. What these people did was just nuclear-grade stupid. I also have two-way switches in my house that are all wired upside down. Again, takes minimal thought to wire them properly. But yeah, not with them …

Like I said, I’ve become numb to the shock value …

It’s usually near the house close to the foundation where the main trunk of the drain line comes out of the yard. Think about where bathrooms and showers are and consider which direction the drains would most likely run. I wouldn’t go digging around in the hot weather now. A plumber or BlueStake company will unfortunately charge A LOT just for their time so I’m not sure it’s worth paying for unless you absolutely have to.

Maybe give the city water supplier a call and ask them if there’s a way to find it easily 🤷‍♂️ they might be willing to send out someone to white-mark the pavement where their connection is and then that would give you a bearing on where the clean out is located.

Walked the perimeter of the house. Moved gravel a little every few feet & stuck a screwdriver in the dirt (when it wasn't rocks) to see if it anything). No dice, so soon I will call my plumbers that redid kitchen for me & see if they can do that sort of thing for me and how much they would be. They've been reasonable with everything I've had them do so far.

Very strange indeed. Certainly possible that it’s buried below grade. There are ways to find buried pipes but you will have to pay someone to do that and it isn’t cheap. And if they do find it buried a couple of feet down then you gotta pay someone to put a riser on it if you ever want to access it. What a waste of money.

When the previous owners to this house built the casita on the property the supplied water to it by tee’ing into the main line for the house. Their plumber did a terrible job and caused a leak because it’s clear they came up short by a inch or two and then tried to yank the main PVC the get it closer to their pipe. Well they cracked the main line and then patched it using an IRRIGATION coupling … something not designed for potable water lines AT ALL. Then they buried their shame. Fast forward to me 10 years later always having water bills for years and year with some random leaks. Not huge, but unexplainable 2-3 CCF increases in months where the water usage should be low. Drove my self bonkers trying to figure it out. Finally got a leak detection company to come out, trace all the water lines and use a Helium leak detector to find the leak. This is what my plumber dug up underground -

You can see the tee, how they yanked the line and then, in breaking the line, they patched it with an irrigation coupler …. FOOLS! Their shame exposed.

Well, $4,000 dollars later out of my pocket, I had my plumber fix all of it and bring isolation valves up to the surface so that in the event of a water leak I can isolate the casita from the main house and not have to worry about losing water. The original owners could have had the job done right by competent plumbers but their obvious mantra was to pay the least amount of money for everything and let someone else deal with the failures.

You know I feel your pain 😂😂

I guess worst scenario for me is getting creative like running garden hose from pump in pool through my laundry room window & borrowing my washing machine drain 😂😂 HOA can't complain about that.

Oh my … be SUPER CAREFUL with that. A pool pump can put out a huge flow rate and the wall drain for your laundry is only a 1.5” pipe in the wall with maybe 12-16” of length before it hits the P-trap into the waste line. You can EASILY overwhelm that pipe and flood laundry room.

Better choice would be a basin sink (in the laundry room) or a big bathtub so you can monitor that water flow and kill the pump of water is backing up too much.

Have a sink in laundry room too that my plumber had to fix that pipe too 😂😂. I'm not planning on having super fast flow with it lol but sink is right there too so same window

Well hello you!! What a mess you started with but you sure got it right!! Well done!!!

What a mess for draining water............should like you might have a way thought out but what a pain to do it like that when IF someone had done things the right way...................You and Matt sure have your hands full from cheap workers! GURRRRRRRRRRR for both of you!
