Hi All! We live in central MD and our new pool construction started in mid November. Aiming for a mid March/early April finish. I ended up here because I am concerned about all the things that can go wrong with Wet Edge installation. We are in the process of choosing right now. We currently want to go with the Prism Matrix Indigo Blue. I've looked all over and haven't found many people with this color. Any thoughts?

Hi! We are getting our Indigo Blue Wet Edge finish done Friday all day. Our pool contractor originally said they would fill it with a water truck immediately after. Now he is saying first thing Saturday morning. He will use our hose to begin filling Friday night. My concern is...I believe we have hard water and I have read that can impact the finish. Should we insist on the water truck being Friday afternoon instead of Saturday morning??
It's supposed to be rainy and 60 degrees on Friday with an overnight low of 47 degrees.

Test your fill water CH.
What test kit are you using?
Test Kits Compared - If you haven't ordered one yet, there is no time like the present.
TF_Pro Salt would be best suited for your pool.

I'm not sure. Our pool builder is taking care of everything for us from now through end of summer (chemicals, testing, etc). We asked about brushing and he said he doesn't think it's necessary and that they don't usually recommend customers do it bc customers do it wrong/inconsistently/unevenly which can actually mess stuff up.
So now I don't know what to do. Do we not brush at all??? Do we ignore him and brush anyway? Do we tell him we are brushing or just do it and not say anything? I don't want to mess up our Wet Edge Prism Matrix Indigo Blue finish.
I don't want to offend him and his expertise (he has been doing this for 30 or 40 years).
I just don't understand why his advice is so far off the start up guides and even what Wet Edge themselves says to do.
Will brushing hurt?? Soo nervous and upset about all of this.

How can you brush it wrong? Sigh....I guess if you use a metal brush. If the makers and sellers of the plaster says 'this is how you care for your plaster" that is what I would do. He will not have a clue if do anything to your pool.

I understand why you are so confused and upset:hug: So many different ideas. Lets see if I can dial this in for you:

PB-I have been doing this for 30 years=I am not willing to learn new ideas.

Plaster makers=We HAVE to make sure the plaster start up and care are the best it can be with the current knowledge available now.

TFP=science base pool care with journal articles to back it up.

You arw the one that will be enjoying the pool long after the PB puts the last chlorine tablet in it. Is he charging for the pool care?

Why are you allowing the PB to care for the pool passed 28 days?
Are you paying extra for this "service"? What exactly is included with this service?

Has the PB advised when they will add salt?
HINT - it should NOT be added until at least 28 days after plaster/fill.

Honestly, no one will care for your pool more than you.

Suggest you get one of the recommended test kits - Test Kits Compared
With a SWG, the TF-Pro Salt would be best suited for your pool.

Also, have a look thru Pool Care Basics.

The pool builder is also a pool service company with monthly plans. This was included with the cost of our pool build. We will pay for the monthly service after summer is over. He has a really good reputation locally (an affluent and highly demanding area) and sticks to his word. He said last year when we began the process that he includes complimentary pool service for the first few months. He comes out and does it himself.

Sadly, my husband and I noticed 3 sets of footprints in the plaster in the evening light last night. We showed pool builder and he said they'll get a dive team out there and take care of it. I have no idea what that even means and am stressed by them trying to fix it but then causing more issues. Any guidance on this?? Thank you! I appreciate the wealth of knowledge you guys have.

Not a big deal. They will either sand the are or put some acid over the area to remove or lighten the footprints.

I am glad to see your PB is responsive to the issue.
