Some jets suck, some blow!

Bought a house with existing inground pool, connected/spillover spa which has six side wall jets and floor main. Three of the jets feed water (2 inch pipe, Venturi outlets) and three jets are sucking water back. The main is not plugged. Pressure 22 psi. Issue/assumption: I would think all six jets should feed/blow the water in, and the main drain be the return. Is this a good assumption? I would really like to have it plumbed that way but there’s no way to get any intel on why it is like it is. Any thoughts on this setup? Am I a victim of plugged pipes somewhere? The spa heats and runs fine but again, three wall jets feed, and three return. Hmmmm? 8760B502-A77A-4039-A5D0-4A8CE2433584.jpeg0358BCAD-FEA6-4B8C-A6A7-7BE4B72435B6.jpeg

Thanks for your reply!! I’m going to remove the jets I can and will let u know results. Drained spa down to inspect jets inside and saw that four of the six jets have the visible nut to remove with ratchet. Two of the jets don’t appear to have the nut, they weren’t visible anyway. Does this make any sense? Should I remove the four that I can see or would this be futile without removing all six jets?

Just dropping in to say your pool/oasis is absolutely magnificent!! OMG! 😍
Good luck with your current plumbing issue. You’ve got 2 smart fellas on the case!

Cam,

I would assume they all should have the nut-looking jet. I'd remove one and see how easy it came out and what it looked like. It could be the missing jets have disintegrated and came out in pieces.

I have only worked on one spa and the jets came out and went back in without any issues. But others here have reported the jets difficult to remove and they came out in pieces.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Been removing jets today! Four of the six are out and two had some blockage. So the other two are different and I’m at a standstill. Will attach a pic of what the two different ones look like. Almost like a tongue piece that MAY have a tiny hole in it. It’s so far in there and dark. They are definitely not the plastic inserts with the 5/8 nut/head and 1/4in hole….

Do ya think they could possibly be intentionally like that?

Also, what’s your picture in the helmet about? I flew jets in the AF…
Cam,

I was an Avionics (Radar) tech in the USAF.. Everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame, and mine was just after the Wright Brothers first flight. I was selected as the USAF technician of the year and awarded a ride in an F-4E while stationed in Alaska. I took the pic on that flight. I am proud of my 15 minutes and that is why I use the pic. It is also a pretty good conversation starter.

You can read about me here.. Meet Jimrahbe

What did you fly and when??

Thanks,

Jim R.

I flew the F-4E at Ramstein and Moody. Went to the F4-G Wild Weasel out of George AFB and was first into Baghdad night one of Desert Storm. Quit flying but did several other things (NATO, FMS, and then got into testing. Ran fighter tests out of Eglin (15/16/A10) and hung it up after 25 years!

Did u see the pics of those dang two nozzles that aren’t standard??

Cam,

I did, but I do not have a lot of hands on experience with integrated spas, so have no idea what I am looking at.

I would assume the original jets have broken and that is what you are looking at, but it is tough to make anything out in your pics.

I sent you a PM what is called a conversation here at TFP..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Show us pics of the jets that you could remove.

These are the nozzles I removed. Four of six jets had these and came out fine. The other two are the problem and aren’t the same. At the risk of being confusing, will post the two nozzles, still in the tube, attached, blocked, and don’t know how to remove. Thoughts?
