Hi! Been taking care of my own pool chemicals for a couple months now. I have a 16k gallon plaster pool with Jandy SWG. We’ve had a ton of rain lately, so due to overflow the CYA has dropped from 80 to 60. Is this ok? If I need to get it back to 80 what is the best method? I have some leftover chlorine tablets should I drop those in for a bit? Thanks for your help!

You look good.

CYA 60 is fine this time of year. You can work the CYA up to the 70-80 range in the next few months.

I prefer just adding dry stabilizer using the sock method.

Using your leftover Trichlor can upset your pH and TA which are fine.

Drop them into where?

You don't need to get it to 80...you could wait a bit until March...low season. Or you can get it back to 70 or 80. Your choice. Get chlorine stabilizer, put it in a sock and hang it in front of a return. After 30 minutes, squeeze a bunch...will dissolve over time. Tabs not needed. I would get my FC up maybe 1 or 2 higher for safety.

Oh I just meant into the chlorine dispenser. But I won’t do that based on your advice. Thanks!

I'm learning to use pool math but why is your FC so high compared to the stock figures in the app. I thought i read that 1-3ppm was good?
