Got Schooled by my Taylor K-2006C - Big thanks to TFP!

FC 7.0 lowered my SWCG to 20 %
CC 0
pH 8 added 1.75 pints of MA. Should lower me to 7.8
TA 110
CH 300
CyA 70
Salt checked with an AcquaCheck Stick and got 3275 which concurs with my Hayward box.
Temp 87.

I think I am all pretty good.

CSI 0.36

You should get the CSI to just below zero, it’ll help avoid scaling in the SWCG.

Why did you recently lower your SWG. I would keep my FC between 10-12% of my CYA. It gives you a buffer in case you have a huge rain, or lots of swimmers etc. No punishment in FC being a little bit high. Bad results when its low.

I was trying to land at 5 ppm FC. The magic number I keep on reading here when CyA is at 70 ppm. But I also had forgotten about the10-12% of CyA for FC levels.

Yesterday FC was 6.5 ppm.

August 22:
FC 7.5
CC 0
pH 8 added 1.2 pints MA

August 25
FC 9 (it has not been overcast and we haven't been in the pool much). I lowered SWCG to 15%
CC 0
pH 8, added 9 oz MA
TA 110
CH 300
CyA 60
Salt 3100
Temp 87-90

Everything feels pretty good. Brushing pool once a week.

CSI between 0.05 to 0.3. I don't seem able to keep that pH down in the 7.6 range. Pool likes to be at 8 it seems.

Once your our TA reaches 50-60 the pH will stabilize.

Don’t worry about your FC so much, in terms of chasing SWCG to lower production. It can be a yo-yo, especially with high UV days, high bather load days, Etc. It’s a common misperception that higher FC is somehow worse, bad for you, etc. It’s simply not and you want a good buffer between you and the minimum FC level. I think you’ll feel best and be in the best situation when your FC is minimum at target, but more comfortably above target levels.

+1. I dialed in my new SWG/pool at 10 FC to allow plennnnnnnnnty of wiggle room while I learned how full sun was different than all the shade I was used to at the old place.

Once I proved I could maintain it at 5 FC, I left it maintaining 10. :ROFLMAO: sometimes it's 8.5 at the end of the day and sometimes 11. But it ain't anywhere near minimum.

You guys make me feel better. And I appreciate the guidance. Pool is a blast, clean, clear and comfortable.

Adding water because it's been dry over here. That will lower my TA hopefully.

August 29 th, after a hot weekend and heavy bathing load:

FC 6.0. I head everyone's warning and will put my SWCG at 20% output and stop messing with it.

CC 0.5 (not sure what that is about, not seen that before)
pH 8. added 1 pt MA should get me to 7.6
TA 100
CH 275
CyA 70
Temp still 87, SWCG still set to 20% output.
Salt 3100 at box.
CSI +0.28 should be -0.11 with pH going to 7.6

CC of 0.5 is totally normal and within the error tolerance of zero. Don’t worry about it until is gets to 1.0 or more.

Aaaargh. Yes, I read on here (thanks TFP), that that was not necessary (after the fact:rolleyes:).
Still learning.

Turned the heater off.
It is getting cold in KY and we are setting up for the closing of the pool :(
