When I purchased this house and the pool, the electrical at the pool equipment was set up Rear follows:

Old school Intermatic Timer
Pump wired onto the terminals of the timer for power.

I am have an electrician do some work in the house and while he was there I was going to add an outlet the SWG. He looked he said that's not proper. You should power an outdoor 220v outlet from the timer and plug in the pump and SWG to that outlet.

Does that sound right?

What your electrician has a problem with is your pump is 220 volts and you re asking him to install a 120 volt outlet for your SWG. That is not right since your SWG should be powered from the same timer as the pump using the same voltage.

Why do you want your SWG plugged into an outlet?

What model SWG are we discussing?

Just about all SWGs are dual voltage. The SWG should be set to 220V and connected to the timer just like the pump so it turns on and off together.

You don't want a pump powered through a 220V outlet. IT should be hard wired as you have it.

Thanks very much, so the SWG would just be on the same terminals.

How would I run the pump without the SWG like for an Over Night Chlorine drop test?
