How much should autofill cost?

Alright folks. Back on track. For those looking we see Kevin76‘s cost was $1100 and I was quoted $2K for some nonsense about having to reroute pipes past the skimmer, $1300 by my pool guy’s guy, $1200 by a family owned pool service co. and eventually went with a $990 quote from one of the larger cos. here in the Coachella valley (see their trucks all over) and they did the job in 48hrs of the estimate.

n.b. The $990 did not include paint nor texture matching. I had to seal and repaint. Hope that helps.

You also might consider a fill line connected to your irrigation system and run your pool fill as a zone. This option is simple, reliable, and inexpensive. With a smart irrigation controller, it's very easy.
Hi pjt - could you elaborate on how you manage the fill as a zone? How do you prevent overfilling? My landscape firm initially set this sort of system up on my pool but I no longer use that firm and have to figure out how to set the irrigation controller and timing for this zone. (I am also trying to figure out if I can convert the system they created into a true autofill but I am at the early stages of research and so far don't have any idea how to do that.)

I have my fill line controlled by my Rachio as a zone. When the pool needs water, I have the Rachio open the valve. This can be either manually (takes about 10 seconds) or your can setup a schedule. You'll learn how much time it takes to raise the level. In my case, it takes 10 minutes to raise the level by a quarter inch. The valve closes at the end of the zone program to prevent overfilling. I also have a separate overflow drain.
