Dilute the 14.5 by 5 parts water to 1 part acid.
Only use acid if scale is not removable in other ways.
Better to use cleaning vinegar.

The recommended dilution is 4:1 of 14%. Why are you cleaning your swg? Is there scale? Are you following the FC/CYA Levels and recomended levels of CSI?

Not cleaning it yet. Just wanted to prepare, i.e. bought the 520670 end cap, reading instructions.

Just opened the filter and cleaned out cartridges, so was in "MUST TAKE CARE OF POOL" mode.

Are we saying cleaning it out with vinegar won't hurt it and what's the dilution there if any. I have a cell not performing well but the CSI is always on the money so no scale but the heat exchanger has seen better days and the clear casing has a coating brownish in color when the chemistry is perfect.....

Its a (softer)acid, i dilute it 50%. Its better to wait(time) than add more strength(MA) to the acid.
