We've been using 3" tablets for years, and very excited for all of the potential benefits of a SWG system. Less so with the cons: cleaning cell w/muriatic acid, equipment damage and staining of concrete coping & decking. All things I feel like we don't need to deal with currently. Can anyone speak to their experience with these drawbacks, perhaps in my climate area?

L,

What a total load of Bull Feathers... Who told you this???

Yes, you do use a little Muriatic Acid, but it is just not an issue..

What equipment damage?? I have had none for over 12 years
What Staining??? I have had none for over 12 years..

I'd rather fill my pool in with dirt as have it not be a Saltwater pool...

Thanks,

Jim R.

Welcome to TFP!!!
If you run the right chemistry, you will never have to clean the cell. Mine is squeaky clean, and I never clean it.
We don't recommend that you clean them with acid if you do need to clean them. That shortens the life of the cell (link below).
I have no idea about equipment damage or staining. I get neither. Where did you hear that?

See Section 1.8 on cleaning:

With good water chemistry, acid cleaning the cell just isn't a thing. I'm going on 5 years with TFP methods. Never had to clean the cell except to poke out some seeds when my filter's vent screen failed. Of course if you have very high CH fill water, that's not possible. Mine's 300-400.

When we moved i had my new SWG onsite before I signed my build contract. Although i had a guy i trusted to build it, technically I had a SWG and no builder. Anyone could have built me a pool but most couldn't get equipment at times during the shortages. It was that high on the priority list after having one for 8 years.
