*My first test w/ Taylor K-2006C*

If sample doesn't turn pink after one heaping scoop your FC is 0.0. Don't add anymore powder...you'll just waste it.

How much liquid chlorine did you add, what strength, and how long did you wait to test?
I haven’t added any chlorine yet because I wasn’t sure if the FC was at zero to start but it sounds like it is.

how do I know how much liquid chlorine to start with? I tried adding my test results in Pool Math but it said I need a subscription.
I have a 33,000 galloon pool, salt

You can still use the Pool Math app to estimate chemical additions. On the home menu, click the FC tab and complete the boxes. If you need help, let us know. I like the Old PoolMath Webpage when using the PC. Link is at the bottom of the page. This is from the web version. Note "Now" and "Target" levels:

This is for 10% strength liquid chlorine.

Thank you! I added two gallons of chlorine. It’s 6:30pm here in Michigan so I think I will wait to test FC early AM and the CYA (I added a gallon of liquid stabilizer - brushed several times) then add as needed following it through until tomorrow evening to see where I land. Is that too long to wait to test and add chlorine?

I think that's a good plan. If you had no/very low chlorine in the pool for X-amount of days and the water's cloudy, you can jump right to the SLAM and forego the OCLT. Your choice.

Will do!
question on the SWG % setting. Since we opened the pool (first time) in May 12th I have only run the SWG at 20%. How do I know what % I need to run the SWG to keep the FC leveled? I was told by PB to run it at the lowest to expand the life of salt chlorinator. We never went through school so have no idea on SWG or what my speed schedule should be (it’s really just be a guess). I do know for the SWG to function consistently the speed needs to be at least 1350. The current schedule I have is 8am-10am at 2200 ppm to turn the water over (I really don’t even know what that means…lol) 10am - 8pm (10hrs) at 1350 to keep the pool circulating and 8pm-8am (12hrs) at 1750 to clean at night. SWG is set at 20% for speeds.

Thanks
LaVonna

Use that same FC tab you used earlier for adding liquid chlorine. Your just changing sanitizer to SWG.

Get your FC to target range first, then use Pool Math to calculate SWG runtime/percentage to maintain FC based on daily loss. For my pool, in full sun, I lose ~3 ppm daily. Your loss should be similar, so 3 ppm daily is a good starting point.

Enter 0 for current and 3 for target levels.

Select "SWG" for sanitizer type and click the search icon (magnifying glass). Select your SWG from the list to populate the Output box. Output shows chlorine gas production in lbs. per day.

Select "Pump Hours" and enter the amount of time you run your pump daily.

Displayed below is the percentage to set SWG output.

In the example below, I run pump 9 hours at 80% to raise FC by 3 ppm daily...

Awesome! Is there a way to schedule the SWG % in line with the speed schedule or is that a manual entry?

Example given above:
Run pump 9hrs SWG at 82% (round to 80%)?
My SWG has 20,40,60,80,100 % intervals.

When I plug in my numbers in pool math this is what I get. That doesn’t seem right? BB3FA8D9-D59A-49C6-BF85-E2225D512D5F.png

Without a signature we do not know what equipment you have.
With a 33000 gallon pool and your selection of a SWCG that creates 1.4 lb of chlorine gas per day, your pump run time needs to increase to get 3 ppm FC per day.
You will need to run the pump for a minimum of 14 hours per day with the SWCG at 100% to generate 3 ppm FC for your pool volume.

Good morning!
I did my first am FC test this morning after putting in the two gallons of liquid chlorine.
First test I did a 10ml just to see if the water would turn pink and it did. Test results: 11 drops X 0.5 divided by 5 (is that right?) = 1.1
Second test I did a 25ml: 24 X 0.20 divided by 5 = .96
Does that sound right? So I probably have about 1.0 FC.
I retest CYA (after one gallon of liquid). Not sure of this test. Is the black dot completely gone or just not black? Still seeing a faded dot at 30.

At this point I have only put in 2 gallons of chlorine. Do I get adding through the day and then test this evening or should I move right to the slam process?
Thanks

Not sure what you mean by signature I have filled out my profile and saved multiple times. What am I missing?

Wow that is a lot of salt. Is that normal to run at 100% everyday? So I will always have to run the SWG for at least 14hrs at 100%?
