Phosphates are irrelevant in a properly sanitized pool. Algae eats phosphates. Chlorine kills algae. Kill the algae and it doesn't matter if there are phosphates in your water or not.

I haven't heard of anyone finding the proper kit in a store. Amazon or tftestkits.net are the locations to look.

Some Leslies carry the non-C K-2006 kit. The one by me does.

"25", the 2005 will work for now. But you also need the FAS-DPD portion which basically makes it a 2006 kit.

Since you're dealing with a green pool, run the following tests and post the results here.

CYA
pH

Forget about TA, CH and any other tests for now. We can deal with those later.

The K-2005 lacks the FAS-DPD test that Tex mentioned above which can measure FC above 5 ppm. It's critical to have for the TFP method, so go ahead and get one on order and we'll do what we can for now with what you've got. It appears you can get an FC and CC reading below 5 from this kit.

If you have any questions on how to run the tests after viewing just let us know! You'll need that FAS-DPD test but otherwise the K-2005 has the rest of the tests and you could test and post those results so we can start helping in the meanwhile.

How recently was it that you refilled the pool? Newly filled pools often appear more green than desired, but over a few days to a week they come around to more blue.

A pool that big is a big investment. A good test kit and TFP will help you manage that in the most cost effective way, and with the best water you've ever seen. I promise you!!

What I did when new was just sit down with a big mug of pool water and the test kit and read each test instruction at a time. Performing them just as the instructions said then I wrote the test name and value I got down. Doing that over time I saw trends and also realized I didn't need to do them *all* each time. Mostly the FC/CC and pH were done the most. Testing the Alkalinity and Calcium were done maybe every 3 to 4 weeks (unless I had added something to them). The CYA test is monthly or so. Its a snap once you learn the tests. It takes less than 10 minutes a week to test now, especially after I bought a Speed Stir device to do the stirring!!!
