We have a 28 yr old pool , that ha been a TFP since 2018 because of all the great people here! However, I am tired of dosing liquid chlorine daily so I need a SWG. We have a pool guy that opens and closes the pool ,and other maintenance as need, ( new pump, new heater in the past) , but the last time I inquired about it he balked for no specific reason ,just tired to convince me I wouldn’t like it.
I would like to know if it would be possible to have a plumber install the SWG ? From reading I understand it need to go after the heater ,so is it possible based on the attached picture? Thanks in advance.

It’s an easy job if you are familiar with pvc , if not any plumber will do it if you show him where and how it goes

It took me several years to come around on swg. Now we'll always have swg. Yes you can definitely add it and looks like your plumbing won't even be too hard. You'll need some electrical also. But it's very easy for a handy DIYer or licensed contractors. What are you thinking about using? If you could provide a photo that shows the entire pad and electric hook up we can be more helpful.

Thank you all for your help. We definitely wouldn't be able to DIY the addition of a SWG, but I am happy to know it can be done. I will approach the pool guy again, and if he won’t do it, I will come back and ask specific of what to use . I have a very handy BIL who would be perfect for the job with your guidance!

Not sure if this matters but maybe someone has the correct answer. My mother in laws pool is old and they tell her she can’t get a swg because her pipes are copper in the pool. I’m not sure if most older pools are the same or if it’s even true that you can’t do swg with copper but just wanted to make sure. I love my swg. I think her only option if it is true is a liquid chlorine injector, which eliminates manually putting it in the pool daily.
