Hiding Skimmers for Grass Surround Pool

So my builder came back and told me that he won’t do the hide a lid. My theory is he doesn’t know how. They work off of a template and they don’t know how to do anything custom which is super lame in my opinion. He shut me down and basically said do Not ask me again- we only install one way. I’m not happy. Do you think it’s possible to have him do what he’s going to do and then fix it later? But I’m not sure how ripping up the coping box will go. This is the plan of our skimmer.

You didn’t hear this from me………… purchase a pour a lid, have it with you on day of coping and a case of beer and ask the coping crew to install it. Removing the “coping box” runs the risk of damaging the skimmer during this proces.
I love this, however, I just watched the pour a kid video on their website and this will Not work for grass. The issue here is that the coping is going to stick out 15” beyond the regular coping in two spots just to accommodate the skimmer.

There absolutely has to be a way around this. I see pictures of pools all of the time with grass surrounds that have lids right in the grass! My PB is not being accommodating at all.

These are how mine look, they’re covered by the coping and you pull the skimmer basket out from inside the pool. I have a small 11k gallon pool though so I don’t know if it would work with a large pool. Just waiting on the grass to grow now
