Pool Contract - Pool Builder's Repetitive Mistakes

Well that is good to know...............what do now? Call in the OWNER of the pool company and ask him if this is what he would put on his sales wall to show off the work his crews do..................
@kimkats Yes, that is the owner that we've been dealing with. We've asked him to send his references time and time again through writing. I cannot believe this is happening AGAIN! Ugh!

I, nor kim, nor most likely Allen, like it. The 1st pic corner is terrible, both in adhesion coverage and aesthetics. 2 and 3 look to be lacking the adhesion as well, but at least are alligned better. Has the PB seen it ? He needs a new crew and it will be interesting to see if he is proud of that work.
@Newdude @kimkats @ajw22
We sent him the pictures this evening. He stated this is a different crew than the last one. We are SO torn at this point. Like I said, we aren't tile experts, but it doesn't take one to know this isn't installed correctly AGAIN! Any suggestions of what to do going forward?

What did he say besides that it was a different crew ? Did he agree he needed it done again, or no ?

Passing the blame is one thing. What was the fix ?
@kimkats @Newdude
Good morning! I sent him all the pictures yesterday that y'all seen on here. This morning I sent him this picture. Here is his reply (see attached picture). Seriously? So, do we contact another pool company in hopes that they will come out to do an estimate to fix and redo? We have no idea what way to turn now.

You are to be happy that he is so quick to agree. To (kindly) ask him to oversee the fixes in person is more than fair.

He tried a new crew and they botched it too. He needs to babysit it now. Do not mention your lawyer or be the least threatening. *Nicely* tell him you understand things happen but he needs to understand you have been incredibly understanding and are out of understoods. So he needs to be there to ensure the fixes are done to his good name's standards.

I would take all you have learned here and elsewhere in your research and write down the best practices and quality standards that you expect. Then review then with both the builder and the supervisor of the tile crew. You can have any discussions about tolerances that they commit to meet.

This can include:
  • Thinset shall be applied with a notched trowel to the pool surface then the back of a tile buttered and placed on the wall.
  • All tile cuts clean and level
  • Uncut tile edges be on exposed corners and edges
  • Tile spacing to be 1/8" +/- 1/32"
  • Plastic tile spacers to be used to ensue consistent tile spacing
  • Agree on the specific materials to be used for waterproofing, thinset, grout.
You can get a lot of standards from...

Also, ask to see some pools done by the tile crew you are getting. Although you have to trust they are telling you the truth.

Good morning! Well, we had no choice but to go the route we tried to avoid by all cause. All we can do now is be optimistic going forward. All of you TFP friends have been a tremendous help. I really do appreciate it. :)

OK so we need some story. Did you have a epiphany that there were bigger things in life to worry about, or did you fire the PB and that helped you rest easy ?

Your previous statements could go either way.
