Water chemistry - need help!

Start with creating 3ppm FC per day. At 80% swcg setting, 4 hours run time will get you that. If that is sufficient to skim the pool, try that. Test FC and adjust the % setting to maintain your target Fc.
Sounds good. I just changed the settings 👏

Assuming my CYA level is 60, which I have to retest today or tomorrow, or whenever, my FC is 4? I'm at 12.5 😱

Marty, her FC is 12.5. She needs to generate less then 3 ppm and let her FC drop to around 6. Then she can go to a 3 ppm generation setting.

1750rpm. If I go 1150rpm, psi reads 0, which I'm not sure what it actually means.
0 PSI is fine at that low RPM.

Recap what setting you are at now?

Assuming your CYA is 60 for now is fine.

8000 gallon pool - 1.4lbs SWG - 80% for 12 hours will generate 8.4 FC. That is too much.

I would rather you set your SWG to generate 1 ppm. That is SWG at 10% for 12 hours.

You don't have a heater and you can turn your pump speed down to 1,400 RPM. Your SWG should still show flow and your pump will use less the $1/day of electricity running for the 12 hours.

What time of day does your pump run those 12 hours?

8am - 8pm.

I liked the idea of running it less hours with a higher %, because my pump has a very annoying noise that is driving ourselves and our next door neighbors crazy. I have another thread for that 😔
In that case 20% for 6 hours or 30% for 4 hours are all the same. Whichever one works for you best.

Fantastic. Much appreciated.

I'm a pain in the butt, but allow me one last question. How long do you estimate until FC drops to 6 or so? I understand I will have to check daily, or at least every other day.

Depends on how much Texas sunshine your pool gets.

Maybe 5 days or so.

I didn't see it mentioned here but the SWG will make your pH rise too. So dont get freaked out if you bring it down and it starts climbing since you adjusted the TA.

Have you tried the vitamin c tabs yet on those dark spots?

When your builder comes over, tell him to NOT dump anything into the pool that you will take care of it from here on out.
