I’ve tried to troubleshoot this with the company, but they were not sure what to do besides send me a new o-ring.

Ever since I have had this SWCG, it’s had a slow leak. You can visibly see the misalignment between the coupler and the housing when the coupler is screwed on. I can disconnect the other side and it’s still misaligned.

The new o-ring helped for a while. I could get it screwed on just so, and the leak would either quit or become so slow that it wasn’t worth waiting around for.

Now, after my equipment pad was shut down for the past couple of weeks and I removed the SWCG, it’s back again. I can keep it loose and watch the drip and then tighten it up, then it slows down…but at some point the threads skip over and the seal breaks completely. I have had multiple people thread it just to make sure I wasn’t cross-threading anything, but the leak is always there.

This is my naive first thought but it seems like the channel for the o-ring is just too deep for the o-ring to actually make a seal, and the housing has to be perfectly square with the coupler to seal well. When the SWCG is off, the o-ring is barely proud the surface of the flange.

Any ideas of how to test out the seal?

Have you used pool lube on the oring?

Might take the oring to a big box store and see if they have one that is a bit bigger?

Oh yeah, plenty of it.

I can take both sides of the pipes and push them together and the leak gets better. Back in August we actually took a ratchet strap and tightened it up and it sealed a bit better.

That’s a good idea, I thought maybe these o-rings were a special rubber to deal with the pool chemicals, but if a Home Depot has ones that will work, I’m game to try it.

I was never super impressed with how the flange fits on my edge 40..
Mine was leaking a tad when I re-installed it this year but I added pool lube on the threads and was able to tighten it up more and stop it

So we doused the whole thing with MagicLube and carefully squared up the SWCG to the coupler flange and had to keep an eye on it as we screwed the inlet coupler on all the way. Then we screwed the outlet coupler on. Seems to not leak right now. I’m not confident it will last through the summer but it’s a start.
