CYA at 76 should I lower before Slamming.

So I'm treating a neglected pool... my neglected pool...
alkalinity is ... 0
PH is about 6.5
hardness is 33
free chlorine at 0.4
total chlorine at about 3.5
CYA at 76 (although before finding this website i added more chlorine stabilizer, so its safe to say its a bit higher now maybe 80+)

I dont have a quality test kit yet so I'm just using a 5 way test kit from home depot, unfortunately this means I cannot test for CYA (the numbers above are from Leslies test).

I imagine the first thing I should do is empty the pool a bit to lower the CYA before dealing with the other issues, however I am unclear on the order of operations. Once I lower My CYA should i balance my PH, Raise alkalinity, increase hardness? Or do I just immediately add liquid chlorine to raise chlorine.

Any advice would be fantastic.
Also where do you recommend I get my chemicals? Leslies is expensive but home depot rarely has what I need.

You first must not assume your CYA test from L is correct.
Imagine draining your pool only to discover your CYA was actually 40ppm.
Imagine draining 1/2 of your pool only to discover your CYA was actually 200ppm
Get a proper test kit and test your CYA before diving in. Test Kits Compared

Do you recommend a test kit in particular? edit ^^^ thank you

If your alkalinity is actually zero then your pH is actually somewhere around 3.5 or so. That's really really bad for everything the water is touching.

You need to raise your alkalinity to at least 50 ppm, like, yesterday.

If I'm reading your other post right you have a service? Fire them.

Keep your FC above 5ppm until you get a good test kit.

were fired when the pool remained green for 5 weeks, that was about 2 months ago, got the pool clear after dropping mundo dinero on chemicals only to have it turn green again after not checking chlorine for a week. I am going to go get a quality test kit and revise the numbers, like, immediately

Your TF-100 will test CYA.
When your kit arrives run all the tests except the OTO, (use FAS-DPD to test FC and CC) then post them here like this:

Hey All,
ya Boiii is back!

So I received the TF-100 test kit today, unfortunately they sent me two 'R-003' instead of a 'R-0871' so I couldn't get a perfect chlorine test done however..

FC - 5+ **Estimate
CC - could not discern waiting for R-0871
pH - <6.8 **less than
TA - 40
CH - 175
CYA - 70 **did it twice pretty confident on that #

however I brought the chlorine up swept daily and ran the filter and I am happy to say the pool is completely clear. I plan on cleaning the filter this weekend. I bought some alkalinity up, but figured I should wait to add it until I hear from y'all. I bought a Clorox alkalinity up on amazon prior to getting advice on here, so I will wait to add it until I get the Okay. I have Ph up from home depot but if you guys have a better product I would love to hear any suggestion. The Cya is high but I figure I can slowly Dilute since it isnt at an extreme level. like run the pump an hour or two once a week for a couple months until it gets to 50 to avoid ridiculous water bills. again thanks for all the help and I look forward to any suggestions y'all have.
