Looking for help!

We had to replace our Pentair vs pump yesterday. Since the new pump was installed, there’s been a terrible screeching from the Polaris return when the Polaris is not plugged in.
If I remove the blue resistor disc, the sound goes away but the flow is so strong that it spills over the side of the pool and pushes the booster pump impeller when the booster is off.

Our new pump is the same as our old one. Why would a new pump cause this and how do I make the terrible noise stop?

What RPM are you running your VS pump?

What mode number was your old pump and new pump?

Run the VS pump at a lower RPM.

Both pumps are/were intelliflo vs pumps. Where would I find the mode number? We were running it at 2800 during the heat of the day.

When I run it on a lower rpm, the noise goes away. Why would a second identical pump cause this problem? We ran the old one at 2800 for weeks with no problem (the previous pump did die after it was new for 3 weeks and we just replaced it under warranty….maybe the imminent death made it behave better?? Haha)

Edit: The noise did not going away at the lower speed :(

There are about a dozen different models of Pentair Intelliflo pumps. It is not certain your new pump is identical to your old pump.

The model number should be on a sticker in the front or side of the pump.

How old was the pump that was replaced?

The previous pump was about a month old. It was brand new and failed due to over current issue.
The pump says “pentair 011056”

011056 is the VSF model Intelliflo.

Just run the pump at a lower RPM that works for your booster pump.

In case anyone finds this with a similar problem…we figured it out. There was air in our lines causing the noise. The new pump drain plugs were leaking. A little Teflon tape and the problem is solved.

That is a new one. Glad you figured it out.
