I believe social media has the potential to be the most destructive invention since the atomic bomb. The way I see it,my best bet to protect my kids from it, is to foster their own ability’s to think for themselves. That and try and explain to them not to do anything stupid online.

They can get cyber bullies and feel trapped so it’s tough. Middle school for girls is brutal, your little
Angel might spin her head and spit fire at others :)
Listen to the old song sound of silence and tell me if it relates.

you not paying for it then you are the product.
Just had this discussion with the gas station clerk yesterday. She wanted me to use the free app for rewards. ‘The first thing your app wants is access to my pics and contacts, sorry, No. Nothing is free’.

Gas stations have clerks?? I thought you just put your card in the machine and get gas.

Not to hijack this thread, but I think we are beyond that now. But I am soooo over gas stations. Just waiting for a decent model electric car so I never have to go back to a gas station. That Cadillac Lyric looks promising.

That is a good looking car and more EVs are coming. You should see a rapid shift in the next few years once Tesla finishes their huge Texas factory to produce cars, trucks, and most importantly batteries. Ford is shifting their focus to EVs with their flagship models (F-150 and Mustang) and will soon follow with their other models. The other major manufacturers are working quickly behind the scenes to catch up and will be releasing their EVs soon.

I need a new car/truck next year and want that to be an EV, but I'll have to see if there are any viable options for me at that time.

I think the fartbook app and suckerburg get permission and steal your info. Google is just as bad
Yes Google is bad but I mean this was a conversation on an Apple app which as we all know Apple says thier security is the best. Even thier new commercials is pushing apps not being allowed to access other info but that was nuts I though.

I like the idea of electric but then I think of our 11 hr drive to the beach multiple times a year. It’s much easier to stop for gas. 5 mins. Stopping and changing routes to charge would suck. And I like to use back roads to skip traffic. Doubt out in the country I would be finding charging stations.

plus you would have to run my dead body out of my wrangler. I know there is a hybrid now. And yea I know they are working on an ev. Gas is just easier for travel.

Lol. Right cause they need ur pics for gas. They assume most people just keep hitting ok and are like “give me my free stuff”

This is what I don't understand about electric cars. I guess they are for city driving only? They seems so impractical for trips. AT first I thought they had the option of taking gas too and my son looked at me like I had 2 heads when I suggested that.

Fun fact. Many electric or hybrid cars use ‘regenerative braking’ to help charge the batteries some while slowing down. While it’s nowhere near the full amount of energy to charge the car, every little bit helps. It’s perfect for stop and go traffic. What does the government do ? Give everyone with a green car a free pass to the HOV lane so they won’t be sitting in traffic. 🤦‍♂️

What would you expect government to do? Reduce the time internal combustion cars stay in traffic emitting pollutants?

Whole EV thing is weird... poor people who can't afford an EV pay for the rich people who can, not only in EV subsidies, but also on gas tax to maintain roads.

It’s just ironically funny that they ‘reward’ the person with a green car, thereby making it less efficient.

EV cars, they cost so much money in the long run.. You are just switching yourself from paying for gas to paying for the electric company to buy gas to charge your EV... Some have solar panels but they have to pay thousands of dollars for those also...

That coal factory billowing out exhaust to charge the EV is priceless :)

Even better is all the state governments constantly weighing enacting a mileage tax on EVs every year at inspection time to make up their losses on gasoline taxes.

As unpopular as the notion is, at some point they will decide to go with it if the % of cars on the road can’t support the old methods of taxing.

If they developed hydrogen cars and an infrastructure to support them it would be a non issue. Only emission they make is water. The other cool thing that they are working on are flow batteries. They are even working on glass batteries. I won’t be buying a fully electric vehicle with today’s available tech. The best you can do right now is a hybrid. But who knows what will be around 10 years from now.

Older I get, the more I realize everything in life is just a money grab. The world is fueled by greed.

EV is nothing more than a money grab. Our grid can barely support the demand now. Yeah lets all go plug our ev's in. And battery waste. Where is that gonna go?

Or how about the clean wind turbines.... that consume massive amounts of diesel to construct and maintain.

And battery waste. Where is that gonna go?
Or life expectancy. You can buy a 10 ish year old hybrid for literal dollars because it needs $15k in new batteries. The math works for the lease folks, or the replace every few years folks, but not the long haulers
