Its been a lot of fun watching this project come together. Still waiting for plumber to bring gas out to the heater and it will be fall before we can put the patio down but still managing to enjoy the pool! So far maintaining the chemistry has been relatively easy although I am finding so much conflicting info on how to manage the pump, time/speed/flow etc.

a,

Nice looking set up... :thumleft:

I suggest that you take a good read through our Pool School before deciding your chemistry is ok... :)

Thanks for the pics.. I find it very interesting how pools are build differently in different parts of the country.

Looking good. What is the plan for the coping and patio?

also just curious did they go with a sand bottom (very common on LI) or a hard bottom?

Sweet! Any pics yet?

I ordered “smooth” but there were none available on LI for months so we stuck with the “slate” texture and we like the way it’s coming out.

Looks amazing! We're going with smooth and I cant lay down patio for some time so that should work. We are still torn between greyed nickel and slate grey, leaning towards slate. Your patio looks beautiful so far!

Some people mix the two colors. The smooth is more of a modern look that we were going for but we are really satisfied with the slate texture. I’m doing it myself so maybe I could have accessed more inventory if I went with a contractor. Astro in Deer Park seems to be one of the larger techo dealers with inventory. There is as much as a 5 month backlog for smooth. Think about ordering as soon as you can.

Yup that’s the plan. Ordering within the next week for either fall or spring install.

On LI you have this - concrete walls and vermiculite or sand bottom with vinyl liner - or steel wall. Gunite is so expensive that it’s really now only the luxury pools. Fiberglass is becoming more popular.

I think 70% of pools on Long Island are sand bottom. We had 3 pools put in on my street at the same time (including mine) and they were: concrete wall sand bottom, steel wall vermiculite bottom (though I upgraded last second from sand), and concrete wall vermiculite bottom.

Av8r- was you bottom an upgrade or does your builder use it standard? Also, what liner is that?
