Hello, since last year I have only been using liquid chlorine. Unfortunately, I did not track my Ph and TA and decided to check it for the summer and it is extremely high. TA was 400 and PH is 8.2. I tried about a gallon and half of Muriatic Acid I had from last year and after measuring a week later I am at 390 and 8.2. Any help will be appreciated. I am planning on getting more muriatic acid tomorrow. Thanks

Keep adding muriatic acid to lower the pH to 7.2 and aerate to raise it so you can add more.

Unfortunately I noticed some on the walls and I was going to submit another post on best tools/process to remove it. It's not too much but it starts to be visible on the water line. How much muriatic acid you think I should get. I need to figure out how to aerate.
Pool calculator shows 2gal and 3 quarts to bring the pH from 8.2 to7.2 I may be at more than 8.2 since this is the max I can measure with the kit I have.
I can also aerate with the fountain/jets or the water bowls I have, correct?

If you have a place to store it, not in a garage or shed as the fumes will destroy nearby metals, I would say get 4 gallons to start. I keep my acid in a rubbermaid trash can (20 gallon) with a lid outside. Heat does not bother it.

Yes I do have the TF100. And yes my muriatic acid was stored in a black Rubbermaid trash can outside. Heat is definitely a factor but as you said it should not matter. I'll get the muriatci acid today.
@mknauss I added 2gal and 3 quarts of Muriatic acid, pH is now at 7.2. How long should I aerate? Thanks

So I have for the last couple of days tried to lower the TA using the Muriatic acid and aeration to bring the PH up. However I noticed a much more noticeable water line today (see attached the before and after picture). Is it normal? How do I take care of the water line and the walls? Can you also recommend a pool brush mine is falling apart and the last 3 I purchased did not last long.

I use a Whale Wall brush.
What you see if very normal evaporite scale at the waterline. Brush or scrub it off when you can. If left to build up, it gets more difficult to remove.

Unfortunately it's already hard to remove and I have some build up in between the tiles. What do you recommend for the build up?

So I started with TA of 400 and PH of 8.2
Then I lowered it to TA200 and PH 7.5
And now it's at TA180 and PH 8.2
Seems like the PH keeps going up?!

TA is still high. You need to keep bringing pH down and then when pH drifts up, lower it again. Each time you do, TA will come down, too. Eventually you'll get to a level where pH is more stable.
Keep at it. I find my ph is pretty stable when alkalinity is at 70. Stable meaning still need to add acid twice a week or so. That's just the nature of having high TA tap water as we do in the phoenix area. We're constantly increasing alkalinity every time we add water.
