The equipment struggle is real / 2 steps forward 1 back

Yikes, Dude. You sure have been thru the ringer having to order everything piecemeal.
It's par for the course this year. It's surely taken some effort but I'll sleep better at night knowing that I didn't just settle for what was available. Even if it woulda worked just fine, it would have bothered me on each trip past the equipment pad.

Well, I was going to post Amazon link, but Sunup2000 beat me to it, but Capital One shopping sent me here, yes it is Ebay, but seller has 100% positive feedback and additional discounts available if you use Capital One shopping extension. 25.00 coupon added, but I stopped before purchase...made total $430.00

9F95944E-863B-40CF-884D-A343F4AD40C0.jpegIntheswim came through. They sent me an email saying it shipped from Houston the other day, but this ordeal had taught me not to believe anything that’s not in my hands. *NOW* I believe it.

Got my pump, filter, SWG and controller.

I wanted to post several shout outs for 2 companies doing right by me.

the first is AZpoolsupply. When their system thought they could get my filter but Pentair flagged the order they could not have been nicer to void the sale. The lady on the phone legit felt bad but couldn’t perform any miracles. To make up for it she could not have been nicer or more professional parting ways. I would not blink to use them again in the future.

Next up is INYO who were either awesome, or awesome about the stuff they couldn’t control. My first call to them was for my filter which they no longer sold. Instead of trying to sell me something else, they immediately offered me *2* competitors who might have it and wished me luck.

My pump took 3 days to ship and 3 days to arrive which obviously was awesome.

My SWG and controller were flagged after the fact as backordered with a 2 month wait time. 3 weeks later the SWG shipped early. (Awesome). The controller got lost/bumped from the system and they couldn’t order another one. This part could have gotten ugly quick when the lady quoted me a 14 business day refund time, yet promised to expidite it all after the call. An hour later I was pleasantly surprised to get an Email ding that I had been refunded. Again I will not blink to use them again.

I am very impressed with these 2, not for how they handled the things that worked, but for how they handled me when things didn’t work.

I lost track of how many calls/Emails went unanswered everywhere else. Sometimes I even got somebody on the phone who took my info but never followed up.

Honorable mentions go to Recsupply who were recommended by INYO. They took my Info and actually called back after going directly to Pentair for answers first. They then called back with the news that they could get my filter, but there would be a long wait. Still, they called and let me know which was more than I got at most places.

Oh my goodness.... how could I forget ???? Super huge MONDO shout out to our very own @ajw22 for offering me his SWG controller.

A textbook example of why this place is so amazing. Just friendly members helping other members. Sometimes with un-findable parts that are worth $500.

Hey all. Hopefully this thread will morph into a build thread but at the moment, I’m not so sure. I told my PB that we wanted to go ahead with a build this year and he said that he could do June/July but he couldn’t garauntee what equipment he could get between now and then. He agreed to let me purchase my own if I could get it.

Yesterday I called INYO and they didn’t sell my filter anymore but suggested 2 competitors. (Seriously, WHO does that). No trying to sell me something else, just trying to get me what I wanted. Top. Notch. Company. Right there.

So I was off to Recsupply and the rep took my info to go ask Pentair when they could get my filter. He called back to say that just Yesterday Pentair upped its expected ship times from 3-4 months to 7-8 months. So no dice with them.

I then found my beloved cartridge filter online (S8M500) ‘in stock’ (azpoolsupply) and quickly snatched it up. It’s been ‘awaiting payment’ for 24 hours now and a call to discover verified the charge wasn’t flagged as a possible fraud purchase.

Today was the SWG/Controller and pump (011028 / IC60) from INYO. They were accommodating as is always reported and verified that all 3 would all ship in about 3 days. 30 minutes after purchase I got an email that the control unit has been updated by Pentair as backordered with an expected ship date of 7/02. 🤦‍♂️ An hour and a half into it I haven’t been told that the pump and SWG are backordered so I’m hoping (send prayers) that they remain anything remotely close to shipping soon.

I have some time, so no panic mode yet, but the struggle is real. Even when it shows in stock.
Same here. Soooo good to see your post about Pentair time frame ? Does it do any good to bale on Pentair brand at this point? I have hole in the ground things have to move forward ...... or not ???? Ugh. I managed to snag a pump. Amd filter. Need intellicenter and 400k btu heater id love to hear what /which piece part is holding up production.

I chose not to. But at some point I would have had to make that decision.

AWESOME. You can run your pool just fine. Sure a heater and automation/SWG are great. But you can manage for as long as you need as is. Plumb and run electric for both so they are easy adds later and if they show up in time .... great. If not next month. Or probably way cheaper if it doesn’t happen until next year !!

Jumping in this thread as my pool build is stalled out for various reasons. One of those is our builder saying our valves have been stuck in customs in California port for over 2 months. Thinking of buying what we need and eating the small extra cost.

Can anyone say whether these are good valves or if you'd recommend staying away; they are "lower" cost.

so that one will do 2.5 inch or 3 inch pipe.. 2.5 inch on the inside so use that same pipe... I swear by Jandy valves.. I have 2 right now and they have never leaked, no air coming through and they have been in service 9 years now and I have never even unscrewed them... if I ever had to I could rebuild them...

I just bought 800 dollars worth of them, so yes.. I would go Jandy and I did :)
