Hey all, Newbie here. We just bought a house with a pool. I have no previous pool experience, so I have been on this site often. I am a quick learner and a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to taking care of things. So I want to make sure I am doing things right. First the pool detail:

26,000 gallons including hot tub
Gunite/Plaster in-ground pool with SWG
Single speed pump
Hot Tub with waterfall spill over
Installed by Blue Haven Pools

I have learning a lot about the pool chemistry, like others I wrestle with Ph/TA. But overall I think I have a good handle on it. Current numbers are as follows:
FC 2.0 Currently pool chlorinator set at 50%
Ph 7.7 Add about 2cups of MA every other day
Calcium 320
TA 84
CYA 25 Pool tech told me this was fine
Salt 3,100
Total LSI -.05

My question is I have white streaks on one side of the pool. I had my kids hit them with a scrubbing stone the other day and thought we got them all. But today they are back. Can anyone provide any advise based on the information I have provided? Are they bad for the pool?

Thanks for any help. I really enjoy reading the forum.

Hellooooo! I am afraid your pool guy is clueless about good salt water pool chems. Please review our guidelines in Pool School about recommended levels. You need more CYA to protect the FC your SWG is making. It will help your cell last longer also.
I can’t attach the file as im on my phone, I’m sorry.

Can you provide us with make and model if your equpment in a signature line please? Along with the deets on your pools size, how you chlorinate and test ect. Look under <Settings> for the <Signature> option. Really helps everyone answer and not repeat questions.

You have waterline scale. You can carefully hit it with a 5:1 dilution ow water and acid. Be careful as the acid can weaken your grout.

Would these be in the pool as well? They are in the deep end about 4 feet down. I added some info in the signature. Thanks

Thanks I added some info in the signature. Thanks for the help.

Aha! Your cell is undersized for your pool's volume. We always recommend cells to be 2x the pool's volume in gallons so that you have plenty of chlorine when you need it. The T-9 cell is only rated for 25,000 gallons.
At times you may need to augment that with liquid chlorine.
Sorry to be the barer of bad news.

Thanks Maddie, my pool tech mentioned that when we talked so I can look to replace in the future. Any insight into the white steaks on the side of the pool in the deep end?

Can you show us a picture? Did anyone pour muriatic acid down the side of the pool and not really into the water? Did a sock of CYA sit against the wall and dissolve slowly?
So many options... show us the damage and maybe we'll see the problem?
