Should I hard pipe my filter and would I benefit at all by doing so? I’ve always had these clear flexible hoses.

I am of the school that don't spend money unless you need to. Is there any flow issues? Do you have any leaks because of vibration or effects of temperature changes? It appears this has been working for some amount of time. You may want to consider hard plumbing if you change out equipment in the future such as putting in a Variable Speed pump but I see no reason to rush it unless there are issues with existing set up.

I’m torn Envie ...... I’m usually a huge fan of the ‘if it ain’t broke’ mentality. But those flex pipes always let go at some point, and many here can attest to that. Some were lucky to find it quickly with only a small puddle, and others found quite a flood.

I have to agree with Newdude here. While I am new to all this (2nd year) I have read more than my share on here and around the internet. The one common denominator about converting to hard pipe is the flex hoses do deteriorate over time and 99% of the time it will be at the most in opportune time given Murphy's law. YMMV

Ah yes, I lied when I said no issues, that indeed happened to me one year luckily my neighbor caught it and knocked on my door and I was able to stop it but it was a mess. Also the pic I posted was a while back they were fairly knew. Now they are pretty beaten up by the sun an a dark yellowish color. I was going to replace them but if I’m going to replace them then I might as well hard pipe it with my buddy as a weekend project.

I would like to change my answer to ‘It’s about to be broke so you better fix it’. :ROFLMAO:

And you KNOW it will blow next time at the worst time possible because you already used your Murphy’s law freebie. You only get one.

I’m in the “those hoses fail” camp. I too have discovered a broken hose after losing a bunch of water, thankfully before my pump ran dry.
