I currently have a Jandy Stealth SHPMP2.0 pool pump. It is an extremely loud - I assume it has bad bearings - single speed pump that I'm looking to replace. The two options I have are the Jandy VSFHP165 which is a 1.65 HP variable speed pump and the Jandy VSPHP270 which is a 2.7 HP variable speed pump. I could save $100 on each if I go with the Pentair versions, but I'm unsure if they'll be as easy to replace by not having to rewire/recut PVC. My pool is about 15k gallons. Do I need/want the 2.7 HP or is the 1.65 HP the right answer? Thx!

How old is your automation?
The pumps don't come with a controller.
So, you would need to control them through your automation or you would need to get a separate controller if your software is not compatible.

I'm trying to figure out how much flow I need. A 15K gallon pool divided by 1,440 would give me a minimum flow of 10.41 gallons per minute if run for 24 hours. Does anybody actually run their pump for 24 hours. My automation is probably the original automation from when the pool was built - 15 years ago. Do you have any complaints of the Jandy VSPHP270DV2A? Thx.

Thanks. I'm really not trying to reconfigure the pool or upgrade the automation. Would the two you recommend - the VSSHP220AUT or the VSSHP270AUT - be drop ins?

So the 2.7 HP pump is ~ 1,400 but the Jandy IQ20 RS upgrade kit is another $750. At that price, is there a better/less expensive option? Am I saving by upgrading the Jandy automation vice buying new automation and pump from another brand?
I think that you can use a IQPUMP01 or the JEP-R as a controller.

If not, you can use one of the controllers listed above.
Part of the problem is that it's hard to find prices for Jandy.
Maybe just go with a Pentair SuperFlo or Intelliflo and replumb.
Thanks for the info. I spoke with a Jandy person from Utah and he told me I needed the upgrade kit. I'll check the prices of the Pentair and see if it's less expensive to start from scratch.

I think that the IQPUMP01 is a separate controller from the automation. It will control the pump but it won't coordinate with the automation.

My SW will not control the new vsp - they want me to get an upgrade kit ~ 850. When I asked if I could buy a different pump and automation they said
"Ripping out your existing automation would be a waste and you'd be starting from new and way more expensive. I suggest doing the upgrade kit and pairing with the new pump."
My best bet may be to get the automation upgrade kit, but if my current automation could control my lights and spa and I could change the pump settings with the IQ pump, while not ideal, it would at least be an option. If the new vsp is not controlled by my outdated automation, could I still make the old automation and iqpump work?

You should be able to control them separately. You would just coordinate the pump runtime and the SWG runtime so that they are on at the same time.
