Brand new pool

Thanks this is the acid I’m using pool math doesn’t give an option for that percentage. Do I choose the closest one?
Select the 31.45% muriatic acid in Poolmath.

Do I add the chlorine at the same time? I have 73% cal hypo
Add the acid and wait 15 minutes or so.
Be careful using cal hypo, it adds calcium to your water.

Do not use a 9 for pH in Poolmath. You cannot measure that. Use 8.2, the highest you can measure if the color match shows that.

The above describes how to add all the recommended chemicals.

By the time you put the bottle away, you can swim.

You can use liquid chlorine until you get your SWCG operating. Or the cal hypo. What is your CH?

Chlorine drip test didn’t turn pink =no chlorine

cc turned a little pink (see pic)

cya had nothing everything was clear in the bottle and I sawthe dot even though it was full. The cap of the bottle doesn’t have a hole so I slowly poured it in.

my Pb told me that for the first month I am only allowed to add MA, shock, and pail tabs.

The Pb put two of those tablets in my skinner and they’re still there. I’m wondering why my chlorine is so low despite that.
im guessing the pool builder did not do any testing and tossed in the tabs to get something in there. Its a little frustrating at first. It gets easier as you go.
I had some problems with data entry with the pool math app. Went back to paper and pen and re did my complete test today with the 2006 kit.
Re entered my info on pool math and think I did it right. I could fine tune a bit more I think but right now all seems darn good. Water is clear and warm! kids are swimming.

Im also cleaning and brushing more often and better.

I dont know how much it helps but been covering my 16' UG pool ...keeps the pollen out anyway

Never put tablets in the skimmer. They are very acidic. The acidic water is being pulled through your pump and doing it no favors along with the skimmer body.

Get a floating chlorinator if you are going to use tablets. I suggest you simply add CYA and liquid chlorine. But up to you.

You really need to get the chlorine in the pool up to 3-5 ppm as soon as possible and keep it there or you’re going to have algae. You may have it already. And, with no CYA stabilizer in the water, you’re going to lose FC faster than the tablets can dissolve to replenish it. An uncovered pool in the sun can easily lose 3-4 ppm in 24 hrs.

You can either add stabilizer and sustain with liquid or supplement with liquid until the tablets dissolve enough CYA to get the level to the correct amount. But, you’ll have to switch to trichlor to add CYA with pucks. Cal hypo doesn’t have CYA in it. It will take several weeks to get the CYA up to appropriate levels using only pucks. Each 3” puck adds about 2ppm.

If it were my pool, I’d add stabilizer ASAP.

In any case, you need to be checking and correcting FC everyday until you figure out how the pool behaves.
