Site issue today (6/5/20)??

Over the next few days surfing on TFP is going to suck. I apologize, but we had to do it.

Early this morning we did one of the stupidest things I could do, we did a major server migration. The result will be several errors including broken links, 502 errors, and so forth. I really hated to do it, but not doing it was going to be worse. With the increase of traffic we've got to the point where doing ANYTHING on the server caused an increased load to be placed on the site. This increase everytime resulted in a crash.

I'm going to keep chipping away and working with our provider to address issues and get things back to how they were, only better.

I blame myself in all honesty. We just went through much of this in very early March. We had discussed the idea of making the major jump like we did then, but I had so much on my plate already I wanted to wait till the end of the year.

Then Covid hit.................
So now we're seeing a huge boost in traffic, I'm getting crushed at work...........these kids are driving me crazy................and now we have to do the migration all over again. :coffee::coffee::coffee:

I got some errors the other day when trying to access anything on the site. It cleared up later in the day. This summer start up traffic is heavy esp with the covid. Good luck with the computing @Leebo
 
Have you considered something like AWS? It is auto-scaling and hardware migration is automatic. You'd never be hardware limited again.

The web site is being served by two servers, a seperate mySQL server and a load balancer server. All dedicated. To make matters better using nginx instead of apache.
How do I know this? I have mad skillz ;) and inside knowledge

Sounds like it is time for a P to V migration and the end of all headaches!

I worked at a large financial company few years back..Not execrating they would page us at 3am " can you see why we lost a transaction at 1am" Sure I can try how many transactions have gone through" " 65000" " Hmm you sent 65000 and lost 1 and you think it's the network" " Yea"
