Hello all,

This is the first year trying to start my natural gas heater on my own. I have the water flowing through the heater properly, everything is clean, all wires are connected etc. Here is my problem, when I turn the power on it says the pool temp is 51 degrees, I raise the desired temp so the pool heater should kick in via electronic ignition but nothing happens. The heater doesn't even try to spark or attempt to do anything, the display says "no demand" and then just says "sensor open" and "off" above that. I looked for error codes and I couldn't find any. Gas is on a flowing to the heater. I heard it could be the Thermistor or the Tempature sensor...Is this the case?

Thanks in advance!

Okay so after looking for a few hours. I cant find a Thermistor to buy. I found one but it was for a different model. Any help would be appreciated. Its a Raypak M266A Pool Heater, Natural Gas.

oh okay - I didn't know if a Thermistor and a Temperature sensor were the same thing. Thanks

So in theory, I install this and the heater should try and ignite and work properly? Anything else?

In theory yes, in practice there can be multiple problems.

"Sensor open" is just that. The board is not getting a resistance reading. This can be due to the actual sensor itself has failed, or the wire that runs from the sensor to the board. Or, as these heater age, im starting to see the board (the sensor connection) beginning to fail too.

Thanks I bought the new sensor and wires. I will provide an update later this week.
