Just got the kit in the other day and I have a few questions..

Chlorine Drop Test-
What is considered a "heaping scoop"?
When adding the R-0871 drop to get the liquid to clear, is this "clear" a little cloudy and then you stop? Right now Im at 8-9 ppm on chlorine

Calcium Hardness Test-
When adding R-0012 to get the liquid to blue, are we talking about a faint baby blue, light blue, dark blue etc? Once I get on the edge of going from red to blue, Im at a violet stage then I get a faint baby blue color.

Alkalinity Test-
When adding R-0009 to get the liquid to red, are we talking about a faint red, dark red etc?

CYA Test-
How many ML do I fill with pool water and how many ML do I fill with R-0013? I know the bottle says fill to the bottom and top of the label. But what if the label is off somewhat? Wouldn't that throw the test off?
Im sure my eyes are not the best. But when filling the tube, can you place the tube over the speedstir LED light or is this a no no? Does the black dot need to be completely covered where as NO shadows or outlines need to be seen?

Last, anyone have any container ideas that you've used to place all the testing stuff in? This fishing box is not cutting it for me as my salt kit and speedstir dont fit.

Read through the above. Especially the Notes. Most of your questions are answered.
CYA test is best done outside with sun to your back. I glance for the dot after filling to a line, say 80. If you see the dot in a glance, add to the next line, etc.
Remove the R0013 from the box (you will only use it monthly) and put the Speedstir in there. Store the R0013 and K1766 in cabinet in the house where you will store the test kit. Those two tests are the not done very often.

The drop tests are done when the color doesn’t change any more. Add drops until the final drop gives no change, then subtract that one dot.

The scoop has two ends, a flat end you hold and a rounded end. So long as you see at least a single undissolved grain of powder you have enough. Test with 10ml of pool water and one heaping scoop for the FC test, and every drop is 0.5ppm.

Good info on the Extended Test... Thanks!

BTW, do you ever sleep?? LOL

What about going from a light shade of pink to red? Do I stop at pink or go to red?

If a drop changes color it counts. When there’s no more change from the last drop you stop and subtract that drop. :)
