connect or test network connection to Pentair Protocol Adapter

I am in the process of changing network connection to my Pentair IntelliTouch i5. It is currently managed by my Control4 system - this connection has no features and wife want the mobile app now. So, I have run another network drop and wired as directed in the manual. But I cant find that PA in SL config. I have rebooted the network rack, i5 and adapter without any luck. the network lights are blinking, the power red light is on, i rewired back to Control4 and all works - so the PA is working with that connection. I have Fing and Domotz as network monitors and neither of them see a new device - baffling...
1. Is there any way to 'force' a way to find the PA in the config?
2. I am missing something in my diagnostic work?
TIA

Michael,

I have no real background with networks, but for me, I just connected it up and it worked first time.

Have you tried with your PC? I find the PC works best for programming etc. The phone works for turning things on an off.

Just reading here is appears the old Protocol Adapter does not like some of the new devices.. I've seen a couple of threads where the fix appeared to be connecting the PA to an older switch.

Just to make sure... the name you are using is Pentair: (space) XX-XX-XX as written on the PA.. My instructions say to use the S/N, but this in just not correct.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks for the reply Jim - and kimkats for the bump. Yes, I use the PA number, and I use a PC to do setup. I had to find on old portable CD drive to install the setup program. Still no joy. Connecting to an older switch wouldn't seem important, but it would be difficult. I live on the bleeding edge and replace switches/routers/network devices often (too often for WAF) so the network is all latest Control4 devices. The PA is old(er) probably 4 or 5 years. the headache is that it works in Control4 and i cant get it to be recognized in PA setup. Super frustrating! Is there any other reset ideas other than the pin hole reset?
TIA
