Hello all,

Always great information here. I am looking for bright color changing lights (LED preferred). I have seen some 36W varieties but the one I got as a test does not seem very bright even on the lighter color settings. Wanted to ask for recommendations.

What light did you get?

Brightness at what color?

The brightness of LED lights depends on the color selected. And light is absorbed by dark colored plaster. So evaluation of brightness is very subjective and depends on the color pool.

The brightest lights are 300W incandescent white pool lights.

Looking at the wattage for LED lights as a guide to brightness is not all that useful - can be next to useless actually. Just because a LED fixture has a higher wattage than another does not necessarily translate to it being brighter.

You need to look deeper into the specs and look at other parameters such as overall 'Lumens' or 'Candela' figures as a brightness indication - If you can actually find these figures for the lights you are looking at....

Even with these figures at hand it can be difficult to judge due to inconsistencies at how manufacturers derive their specs and other variables mentioned ie colour of pool surface.
