New pool, new water, few questions

Hello,
I was introduced to TFP about 5 yrs ago, after fighting chemicals & bad advice from the pool company (never heard that story have you!?). I just bought a new house with an old neglected pool last fall, after selling my house (pool was newer & water was great, don’t ask me why....). I elected to close the pool immediately after moving in. Just opened my pool to a green mess, initial numbers(ph-7.5, fc-0, cc-0, TA-240, ch-425, cya-10, salt-3000, borates-30), brought the ph to 7.3 & cya to 45. Them started to SLAM. I added 6gallons of bleach 12.5%, brought me to fc-42.5, 72hrs later I’m at (fc32.5, cc-.5, TA-270, ch-400, cya-45, salt-3000, borates-30). Fc is holding overnight with no loss, cc-.5. My questions start with, am I hood to start letting the sun burn down the fc to normal levels & start the swg after that? Also, I really don’t want to but should I drain & fill some to drop the ch? Then see where I’m at? Pics are at opening, then 72hrs later.

If you pass the 3 exit criteria then your SLAM Process is complete. Good job!

CH of 400 is fine. No reason to drain for that.

Yes, held at 32.5 overnight & .5cc. Should I work to drop TA?

Yes, because you have an SWG and a lower TA will prevent scaling in the cell.

What is the pH, TA, CH of your fill water?

No auto fill. Tap water here is 7.5, TA-250, ch-75

With your fill water being a TA of 250 you will find it difficult keeping your TA down. See how much evaporation you get and how much adding water to the pool bounces the TA back up. IT will be a constant battle for you.

Notes

• Sometimes a static electric charge can build up on the R-0009 dropper bottle tip, causing the drops to be smaller than usual and making the test read higher than actual. You can prevent this by wipping the tip of the dropper bottle with a damp cloth or tissue before you start and after each drop.
• Hold the dropper bottles vertically and squeeze gently, so that drops come out slowly and seem to hang on the tip of the dropper bottle for a moment before falling.

OK, guess it really is that high. Ususally a TA that high causes pH to be higher then 7.5.

Once the fc comes down, I’ll drop the ph & aerate, see if I can get it down some. My last pool hovered around 140.
