Hello everyone! New member here and I’m excited to learn all I can about how to care for our new pool that is just about completed. I’m also recently retired, and have some more time on my hands now, and would like to take care of the pool myself, if at all possible.

Our new gunite pool is approximately a 20x27 lagoon style in-ground 10K gallon pool with a built in Spa. The entire Pool, Spa and patio area is also fully screen in & covered with a “bird cage”.

The equipment is comprised of a 30” sand filter, Jandy Auqualink RS Pool & Spa automation system, with Zodiac iAqua link web interface, Jandy Pro Series variable speed e-pump w/SVRS, Jandy JXI 400 natural gas heater, Jandy Aqua Pure Salt chlorination, and a Spa blower system.

As mentioned, our pool has been under construction since early December and is nearing completion. The plaster finish went on last week, the pool was filled, and the pool ”startup process” is currently underway by our pool contractor. I’m anticipating them being done in the next two weeks or so. Then it will be ours to enjoy and care for!

Thanks in advance!

Greetings fellow South Cakalakan! If you have pictures of your build, start a build thread and show the progress. I can't get enough of the build threads. There's a multitude of great people on this forum with extensive knowledge here (not me) and they will jump in to help out a fellow pool owner. One key thing to getting quick, accurate advice is a completed signature. Read the pool school front to back and ignore the pool store. My pool has been easy, stable and predictable since adopting the methods here. So easy. Enjoy.

Welcome aboard 5!

Great pool and sounds a lot like mine. I'm a ways south of you and a similar life style. Here's so:me light reading for you:

ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

Test Kits Compared

You'll want to get your test kit on order so it's there in time for you to start TFP. We have a couple we recommend but you need one. We never use "free" pool store tests. We have experts in everything pool and we don't sell anything so our advice is never conflicted.

Look forward to your posts and feel free to ask any questions our experts and pool enthusiasts are standing by to help in any way we can.

Hey there almost neighbor! Welcome to TFP :)

If you have any questions about that SVRS pump <cough cough> @Jimrahbe has or had that one and can talk you thru any problems with it.

Glad to have you join us here....and we'd love to see pics of the pool <hint! hint!>

CC,

I have the Pentair IntelliFlo with SVRS and it has been the worst pool decision that ever made. Since you have a Jandy pump you may not have the same issues that I have.

The Safety Vacuum Release System (SVRS) is designed to shut off the pump if someone becomes trapped on the main drain by sitting on it.. The problem with my pump is that if my next-door neighbor just passes a little gas it will shut my pump off.. Ok, maybe not quite that bad, but almost any suction surge will shut the pump off. If I just close the air relief on the filter too quickly, it will shut the pump off.

The IntelliFlo is a great pump, just not the one with SVRS. Just a heads up in case you start seeing similar issues.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks for the welcome and detailed SVRS info, much appreciate.
So far our Jandy e-pump has worked well...and has been running 24/7 at full speed for a week... since getting the plaster installed. And it’s VERY VERY quiet! All of our pool equipment is on the outside of our bedroom wall and you can’t hear the pump running.
