McDonough, Ga.
We are so excited. After several years of wanting to start our pool build it’s finally here. We started digging on Jan 5,2020. My PB worked 8 straight days and was ready for shotcrete. Then we were delayed a few days due to rain. Shotcrete happened yesterday Jan 17,2020. These shotcrete guys are artist. Enjoy the pictures.EEFC5041-2D34-4EB9-BF38-13F376B5D19E.jpegEAD36F6A-DAD7-489D-9BB0-DE7A6BDA6B56.jpeg82070453-A6D2-40A9-9D1F-57F27A5017F7.jpeg8B25FFF6-4B27-4C7B-97A2-114E025879DA.jpeg3A69B03A-55F2-4B8A-A306-130A5CEA3022.jpeg67CD28D3-5934-421E-8F64-3E734990FC3E.jpegDAF183BA-9722-4F61-AF1A-3E975057FF6C.jpeg94A20470-3721-43B3-9BF3-2DE6A595DE6B.jpeg

SWEET!!! That looks great! Have you started bonding with it yet? aka watering it to help slow down the curing.

It is time for your set of links! The first set is all about what to do and ask about to get a great plaster job. The second set is all about how to care for your pool after you get the plaster.

Now is also a good time to ask what test kit your PB will be providing so we can fill in any holes.

What is your lows going to be in your area this week? I know we are getting some light freezes down here in FL. Have the son shop vac any standing water up so it does not freeze if that is a possibility to be on the safe side.

I haven't posted an update in awhile. We have had decent progress still with as much rain that we have gotten here in Georgia. Our stone masons are incredible. The stone is Tennessee Fieldstone and the coping is 2" thick silver travertine.

Your stone guys did it again! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how they did the spa coping! It looks like art work!! WOWZER!!!
Don't hold back miss...... please tell us how you REALLY feel !!! :laughblue::laughblue::laughblue::laughblue::laughblue:

Also, for the record you are entirely correct.

Looking good. It looks like there is a lot of red dirt in the pool. Is that runoff from rains? If so, are they planning on fixing any drainage so you dont get dirt in your new pool?

It also looks like dirty water is coming out of one of the returns and running down the side of the gunite. I dont know if that is bad or expected, but I figured I would call it out for someone more knowledgeable than I am on construction.

Kim - the finished product of the spa coping was their answer to a mistake in the thickness of the spa walls. The spa formwork was not uniform thickness. One side was too thick while the other side was okay. By the time you added the TN fieldstone (5” thick) and the 18” double bullnose coping would not cover the stone, shotcrete and waterline tile with the correct overhang. So they took remnants from the ledger in the raised wall and cut those small rectangles.

The red dirt stains are common during the build. We have had epic rain fall here in Ga these last few weeks. The pipes will be sealed with hydraulic cement before the plaster is shot. We have addressed drainage with catch basins and routing downspouts away from the pool.

Sounds like you have it all covered then. Keep the pics coming and looks like you will be ready for swimming in the spring.

Plaster went in yesterday. We went with NTP Stonescapes Tahoe Blue in mini-pebble. Don’t mind the muddy dog prints on the pool deck. We are doing a type of cool deck overlay.

SWEET!!! Once the water starts flowing do NOT stop it! Doing so could cause a ring in the pretty new plaster.

Run out and put socks or such on the end of the hoses. This will help filter the water and keep the metal end off the plaster.
