All - any suggestions on decking and coping? I was going to go travertine and lueders but the extra price and going with saltwater has me thinking of exposed aggregate and oklahoma flagstone. We had exposed aggregate at our old pool and I like the way it looked. Didn't like the feel of it but it is concrete. I like some of the textured concrete with a single color but that is a pretty big step (2k or more) from the exposed aggregate. Another option we have is grey (uncolored) salt finish concrete - same price as exposed aggregate. Driving myself a little insane trying to decide all this.

We went through the same thought process. Ended up going with a cast concrete paver and rock salt concrete. Here’s a picture, but it’s right after the rain.. I’ll take some with a dry deck to show the difference. But overall, very happy we went this route.. practical and under budget!

I have the same cast concrete coping as TJS, and stamped concrete.. I have a rent house pool with flagstone coping and I would not use it again.. (Nothing to do with saltwater has more to do with the stone coming apart in thin layers, long before we converted to saltwater.)
I wished I had gone with salted concrete. I like the look better..

Still struggling with spending all this money in a backyard. I will love the pool, this is my 3 one and my first that we have designed.
Biggest thing I am trying to decide now is what type of deck and coping. My wife wants anything but aggregate. We may end up with grey salt finish with silvermist flagstone. I would like to look at the precast concrete coping but not sure what that will look like with a free form pool.
Another item to decide is what counter to use for the kitchen, the builder's default is Lueders Limestone. That seems like the worst pick idea for a kitchen counter. I am pinging him to give me some quotes on other options.

Be aware that the grass up against the pool near the spa will get in the water as you mow. Unless you can bag as you go, or add some separation there....perhaps a bit of raised wall coming off the spa in the back or something?? Just something to think on.

Hey there we are in Frisco and just starting our build as well. We also have a 2-3ft retaining wall on a very slight slope in our yard and are not doing piers. We have an engineer coming out to take a look before we dig just to be sure, but we have several neighbors with far greater slope and retaining wall height next to us that dont have issues. We are doing soil injections, however. As far as your leuders limestone for a kitchen I would say Do NOT do it if you can afford something more solid surface. I have had an outdoor kitchen with leuders for 8yrs now and I would never get it again. You need to seal it very well and often to avoid staining, and even then it will still stain. Wipe it often to get any grill dust off it, and you will still stain....overall I am not a fan and would never do it again. If you can find some surplus granite on your own I would do that, but its up to you. Good luck on your build!
What is everyone's thoughts about equipment location? The current location shown here is about 30-36 inches above pool water level. It is also further away from pool. I would like to put it by gate near or to west of spa by fence but the electric line is about 2-3 feet from the fence there so it would have to be out into the yard a bit to keep the pad off the electric service line. Along the north edge of the pool between fence and pool is going to be planting beds for privacy...

What is that straight line to the left of the words 24" retaining wall? I don't think there is really a good place to put it close to the pool without it being a bit out into the yard. Due to the power lines AND before I even thought about putting it any where near them I would call "locate" AND dig by hand to make sure they ARE where they are supposed to be!

Moved pool 2 feet to left to open up patio by spa and between house and pool. Has been submitted to city for permits and hopefully will be digging in a few weeks.
New fence is in... decided to do this first since we were moving it to the property line and wanted it to be moved for the final grading that the pool company did. Also needed to move it to make room for the new patio cover. Left a small section by driveway for equipment access.
That is a mighty fine looking fence there!!! Well done!

What about these stones options for retaining walls and back raised wall? My wife really wants the first option and I kind of like the second since it will contrast a bit more with the oklahoma flagstone coping.
Here is the tile we are thinking about with blue surf pebble sheen. The decking is going to be a stamped concrete colored as shown below but a slightly different pattern. Also going with Oklahoma Flagstone coping and retaining walls.
