I've been lurking on here for a while and noticed there are quite a few OB's in my area. The amount of help and knowledge on those threads is amazing so I figured I'd add my own build thread now that we are finally getting the process started.

Here's what we've got so far. Hopefully some of the pro's can chime in and let me know if anything stands out to you that needs to be fixed or added!

Pentair 160301 Clean and clear plus cartridge- 520 sqft

SWEET! I have been waiting for a new pool to help build! If you have been reading you know what I am going to ask for now.........a picture of where this pool will be going!

Do you have a design yet? Post it up so we can go over that as well.

Welcome! We are going through the same process just down the road in QC and have friends in the Cortina neighborhood as well, so Im happy to chat as you go along if you have any questions!

Are you using BYOP or just all on your own? We are using PSD but their processes seem very similar. I'm no expert on the equipment side so I'll let the others handle that but Im sure we can share learnings along the way - good luck!

Awesome! Yes, we are going through BYOP and so far everything has been pretty smooth. Only "issue" we've had is getting a steel/rebar company to respond to us. We've got everyone else set with the exception of steel. I've touched base with a couple of the other companies to see who they recommend and its all the same company, the one who isn't responding. Hoping some of the other OB's in the area can recommend a company or two.

I'll send you a message, I've got a few and they all replied so I'm sure we can get you one! :)

Well, not what I wanted to wake up to.

We had the pebblesheen put in yesterday and I noticed they had only capped one of our returns. I questioned one of the foreman about capping the others and he said "they should be fine since we are doing the acid wash tomorrow". Sooooo with the acid wash happening today, is this something I should be worried about or will the acid wash solve it?

SWEET! That color does look great! Keep that water flowing until the pool is full. If you stop the water early (before it reached half way up that pretty water line tile) it could cause a ring in the plaster.

I was planning on going with the pebbletec salt water start up unless you guys recommended something else?

That works. Follow it for your first 30 days then transition to TFP guidelines.

I just put the CYA into a sock and that’s hanging out. Should I start adding muriatic acid already to start to lower the PH or hold off? Pool math says the added CYA will reduce PH down to 7.2 which is already at the lower end of the scale.

66 oz of stabilizer will add 30 ppm of CYA to your 16,500 gallon pool and lower pH by 0.56. It will take 24 to 48 hours for that stabilizer to dissolve. With your new plaster curing your pH is probably rising by .05 - 0.1 per day.

I would lower your pH a bit to 7.6-7.8 with about 12 oz of MA. With a TA of 150 and curing plaster your pH is never going to come close to 7.2. Check your pH daily and keep lowering it when it hits 8.
