power needed for Pentair easy touch 4

Hi, I have just mounted an ez4 panel. Nothing cut over to it yet. Right now I have a:
12v amerlite pool light,
pool pump(older single stage) ,
waterfall pump,
and a natural gas heater (not working) . will be upgrading soon to a pentair natural gas heater.
These are all run thru an intermatic timer. Pool pump only thing on timer with pressure side auto cleaner off 25% of pool pump valve. Everything else on switches with GFCI for light. All these accessories currently come from house on their on breakers thru Timer box ( looks like spaghetti).
Pool is in ground gunite kidney shaped 30 year old pool and seems all is 30 years old except for pump replacements.
Question 1 is: what size breaker will I need for the equipment listed at the new easy touch 4 control box?
I was hoping to get a way with a double pole 40 amp circuit breaker.
I currently have an existing 3/4" conduit that has all the wires for existing equipment from house.
This is my own pool and the picture below shows what I have now. (and yes, the previous owner/pool guy actually wired the pool pump straight into cabinet-cannot close door) all conductors from house panel come up thru 3/4" conduit into gfci box. I hope this makes sense to someone. Any help greatly appreciated, Russ

Welcome to TFP.

40 amps should work to feed your ET. You should not load CB more than 80% so maximum load should be 32 amps or less.

You need four #8 copper wires from the CB to the ET panel - 2 black hots, white neutral, and green ground wire. It may be a tight pull in 3/4” conduit.

I Thank you so much for your quick response. I forgot to ask is it possible to drive new ground rod at pad and ground to that and just run 2 hots and neutral? Thanks again for such a quick response and I really appreciate your time. If not , I will just get a big jug of pull soap and hope for best. Thanks again, Russ

No. Code and good electrical practice requires one ground point for the house electrical system. All subpanels must be grounded back to the main panel.
